    摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide a honeycomb structural body (filter) which has a low pressure loss upon collecting particulates, makes it possible to deposit a great amount of particulates and ashes, and is less likely to produce cracks. The columnar honeycomb structural body of the present invention includes a plurality of through holes placed in parallel with one another in the length direction, and wall portion that separates the plurality of through holes from one another and constitutes a circumferential face, wherein the plurality of through holes are composed of a group of large-capacity through holes, with one end thereof being sealed so as to cause the total of areas of cross-section perpendicular to the length direction to become relatively greater, and a group of small-capacity through holes, with the other end thereof being sealed so as to cause the total of areas of the above-mentioned cross-section to become relatively smaller, and the above-mentioned circumferential face of the columnar honeycomb structural body has a chamfered corner portion.

    摘要: A honeycomb filter of the present invention is a honeycomb filter 10 including a number of through-holes 12 surrounded by partition walls and extending through an axial direction, in which the partition walls have filterability, predetermined through-holes 12 are plugged at one end portion, and the remaining through-holes 12 are plugged at the other end portion to trap particulate matter contained in a dust-containing fluid. The honeycomb filter is characterized in that a heat capacity of a central part 11 is set to be larger than that of a peripheral part 13 in a section of the honeycomb filter 10 perpendicular to the axial direction. There is provided a honeycomb filter in which a crack is not generated by thermal stress during use, especially at a regeneration time and which is superior in durability.

    摘要: A method of blocking partial cells at the periphery of diesel filters is disclosed. The method comprises plugging the partial cells with a suitable plugging material. In one embodiment, a line of plugging material is applied to either or both of the end faces of the diesel filter along an outermost row of partial cells to block same. In another embodiment, the outermost wall the diesel filter is first beveled to form a beveled edge and uniquely off-set the partial cells. Then the beveled edge has applied thereto a plugging material, such as a line or bead. A honeycomb structure having reduced number of unplugged partial cells at the periphery is also disclosed.

    摘要: There is disclosed a honeycomb structure which is useful as a trapping filter for an exhaust gas, above all a diesel particulate filter (DPF) for trapping particulate matters (particulates) in an exhaust gas from a diesel engine and in which internal and external temperature rises are uniformed during use and during regeneration and in which there are effectively prevented generation of defects such as cracks due to a thermal stress and generation of an adverse influence on a carried catalyst. A honeycomb structure 1 includes: a bonded honeycomb segment article 10 in which bond surfaces of a plurality of honeycomb segments 2 are integrally bonded to one another via bonding material layers 9; and an outer peripheral coating layer 4 which coats an outer peripheral surface of the bonded honeycomb segment article 10. The honeycomb structure has a structure in which a plurality of cells 5 forming fluid channels are arranged in parallel with one another in a central axis direction. The honeycomb segments 2 are bonded via the bonding material layers (partial bonding material layers) 9 disposed only in predetermined portions of the honeycomb segments 2.
