摘要: The HEDD consists of a compressible bodynulltop half (11) with a guide groove (12) and a cutting blade (13), a compressible bodynullbottom half (18) with a guide pillar (17), and a pair of special clamps (14) which are located to the left side and the right side of the guide pillar between the two halves of the compressible body (11 and 18). Under external compression, the two halves of the compressible body (11 and 18) are squeezed together to compress the special clamps (14) along the direction of the guide pillar (17). After the special clamps (14) completely block the hemodialysis blood-tubes (16) and are locked up due to elasticity, the cutting-blade (13) moves further to cut the hemodialysis blood tubes (16). When the external compression is released, the special clamps (14) and the blood tubes (16) are released from the device. The patient is then completely disengaged from the dialysis machine.

摘要: A coating material and a method for coating a hydrophobic membrane with a copolymer that contains at least one hydrophilic segment and at least one hydrophilic segment, such as a PEOnullPPOnullPEO triblock copolymer, so that the surface of the membrane becomes hydrophilic. The hydrophilic coating helps repel biological molecules, thereby reducing the risk that these molecules will adsorb or deposit on the membrane surface. When the copolymers are modified with an active group, ligands can be immobilized on the copolymer through the active group so that specific molecules that will bind with the ligands can be targeted for immobilization on the copolymer coating, thereby improving the efficiency of the removal of specific targets.

摘要: An infusible replacement fluid does not require separate regulatory clearance and does not need to be prepared by a pharmacist. The fluid is made from constituent fluids that are cleared for infusion. Further, the fluids are available in standard volumes of such size that that the proper proportions may be provided by a convenient number and size of packages. In a preferred embodiment, the replacement fluid is provided to the patient by nullhangingnull five bags of fluid, one of half-normal saline (e.g., 1 liter bag), three of ringers solution (e.g., 3 liter bags), and one sodium lactate for injection (e.g., 1 liter bag). The resulting concentrations of solutes closely approximates an ideal solution. The above constituents may be purchased and stored in a convenient location and used as required without the need for a pharmacist to prepare the fluids.

摘要: An improved apparatus for hemodialysis treatment includes an ultrasonic module with an ultrasonic transducer coupled to a membrane or hollow fiber dialyzer. An ultrasonic waveform generator is switchable between various modes, including a narrowband sine wave, a variable or sweeping frequency sine wave and a broadband square or sawtooth waveform. A low power setting is used to increase the diffusion rate across the semipermeable membranes of the dialyzer and a high power setting is used intermittently to break up thrombus that may form within the dialyzer. A chamber downstream of the dialyzer has an ultrasonic or optical emboli detector for detecting thrombi or emboli exiting the dialyzer and a focused ultrasonic transducer to break up any emboli in the chamber. A screen or filter at the exit of the chamber prevents thrombi and emboli larger than a certain size from entering the patient's circulatory system.

摘要: A device for oxygenating blood in an extracorporeal circuit includes a first structure suitable to delimit a portion of space-containing capillaries made of microporous membrane. The capillaries convey oxygen and are wet externally by blood flowing through a portion of space between an intake connector, which is connected to a venous line of the extracorporeal circuit, and a delivery connector. The device includes a second structure monolithically connected and contiguous to the first structure. The second structure is suitable to contain blood filtration means that divide the portion of space delimited thereby into a blood distribution chamber, provided with an air vent and connected to the delivery connector of the first structure, and a blood collection chamber provided with a delivery connector connected to the arterial line of the extracorporeal circuit.

摘要: A blood treatment device, in particular a dialysis machine, which permits both single-needle and dual-needle operation. The device has a blood treatment unit, in particular a dialyzer that has an inlet connected to a feed line and an outlet connected to a return line. The feed line has two parallel line branches with a positive displacement pump being connected into the first and second line branches. To produce a fluid connection between the outlet of the dialyzer and one of the two pumps, a connection line is provided. For dual-needle operation, the feed and return lines are connected to an arterial and a venous needle. For single-needle operation, the feed and return lines are brought together and connected to a common needle. The connection line permits single-needle operation without great changes to the structure of the blood treatment device.
