Abstract:
A water filter unit for purifying water fed to the water filter unit. The unit includes a containment defined by a wall section, first and second end sections, wherein the wall section is attached to the first end section and the second end section; a water inlet arranged in the first or second end section through which the water is fed into the containment; a filter membrane arranged in the containment such that at least part of the water is fed through the filter membrane; and a first water outlet for filtered water from the membrane. The unit further includes an injector pump arranged to create an increased flow velocity trough the injector pump of the water fed to the filter membrane, and the injector pump is furthermore arranged to receive unfiltered water not fed through the membrane and recirculate the unfiltered water within the containment.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to ion-exchange systems and devices that can monitor key parameters related to the performance of the ion-exchange device. Specifically, the ion-exchange systems and devices disclosed herein can provide real time voltage drop across groups of membrane pairs using diagnostic spacer borders between the pairs. In addition, the ion-exchange systems and devices disclosed herein can monitor the compression force applied by the compression plates holding the ion-exchange systems and devices together.
Abstract:
A system includes a product having one or more active membranes for transporting liquid by aid of an electric field. A humidity sensor provides information about wetting or moisture conditions near the active membrane. An electronic control circuit is designed to provide a voltage to the active membrane only when a certain humidity level is detected. An external electronic device provides an interface between a user and the product, wherein the interface includes a display to allow monitoring of the functions of the product.
Abstract:
A membrane filtration system, capable of effectively removing foreign matter attached to a separation membrane while saving energy by reciprocating the separation membrane, includes a treatment bath, a membrane support frame disposed in the treatment bath, a separation membrane module installed in the membrane support frame, a reciprocating part connected with the membrane support frame to reciprocate the membrane support frame, a sludge floating part disposed on a lower end of the membrane support frame to float sludge accumulated in the treatment bath, and a control part controlling a reciprocating distance or frequency of the separation membrane module.

Abstract:
Pressure processing systems disclosed herein comprise rotating fluid flow paths. Transfer of angular momentum between the working fluid and the fluid flow path may be configured to increase pressure within the system and/or recover energy used to increase pressure within the system. Rotation of pressure processing systems may be configured to alter working fluid pressure within the pressure processing system. Filtration and/or chemical processes may be performed within a pressure processing portion of such systems. Working fluid may be introduced or recovered from the system at various radial positions.
Abstract:
The present invention pertains to a pervaporation membrane process for the separation of high octane fuel components from a gasoline feed stream comprising feeding a mixed phase vapor-liquid feed to a cyclone separation means to separate the liquid from the vapor, then sending the saturated vapor to the membrane, thereby extending the useful life of the membrane.
Abstract:
An air separation module includes a housing, an air separation element, and an insulating element. The housing has an inlet and two outlets. The air separation element is enclosed within the housing and extends along a length of the housing. The insulating element is positioned inward of an outer perimeter of the housing and substantially surrounds an outer perimeter of the air separation element along a length of the air separation element.

Abstract:
Described herein are apparatuses and methods for preventing or otherwise reducing scaling and fouling of a membrane using ultrasonic vibrations. One example method involves: (1) directing a solution to a membrane of a membrane assembly, where the membrane passes a solvent of the solution through the membrane at a first rate, and where the membrane prevents at least some of a solute of the solution from passing through the membrane; and (2) causing a piezoelectric material that is physically coupled to the membrane to produce ultrasonic waves directed at the membrane, where the ultrasonic waves induce oscillations in at least a portion of the membrane and thereby the solvent of the solution passes through the membrane at a second rate that is greater than the first rate.
