Abstract: A method and system for dehydration of a gas phase and hydrate inhibition of a liquid hydrocarbon phase in a multiphase hydrocarbon fluid stream containing water. The method may include (i) separating the hydrocarbon fluid stream into a liquid phase and a first gas phase, (ii) adding hydrate inhibitor to the first gas phase, and (iii) separating off condensed liquids and a second gas phase. The first gas phase has a water dew point that is lower than the initial multiphase hydrocarbon fluid stream and the second gas phase has a lower water dew point than the first gas phase. The hydrate inhibitor has a water content that is low enough to enable it to dry the first gas phase, the hydrate inhibitor being separated off with the condensed liquids and mixed with a part or all of the liquid phase from the separation to inhibit the liquid phase.

Abstract: A method of plugging a well extending into a formation to facilitate temporary or permanent abandonment of the well. The method comprises conveying in one trip, a plug assembly and one or more explosive charges through the well together with a structure for providing wet sealant. The plug assembly comprises a foundation plug for supporting the wet sealant. The plug assembly is set beneath a plug formation location, prior to providing the wet sealant. The method also comprises providing the wet sealant to the plug formation location via the structure, so as to submerge the one or more explosive charges in the wet sealant, and then detonating the one or more explosive charges in the wet sealant at the plug formation location to cut through a tubular or tubulars of the well and into the formation.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for inverting oil continuous flow to water continuous flow and reaching one or more desired production parameters in a well producing fluid containing oil and water or inverting oil continuous flow to water continuous flow and reaching one or more desired transport parameters in a pipeline transporting fluid containing oil and water wherein there is a pump in the well or transport pipeline, comprising the following steps: (a) reducing the pump frequency until either inversion from oil continuous production to water continuous flow is achieved or a predefined stopping condition is reached; (b) if inversion has not been achieved in step (a), adjusting the wellhead pressure in the well or the pressure at the reception side of the transport line to achieve the inversion; (c) stabilising the flow at the condition reached in steps (a) or (b); and (d) carefully adjusting one or both of the wellhead pressure and pump frequency to reach the one or more desired production parameters.
