摘要: A bearing system for a vertical type rotary machine including a vertically extending rotor shaft including a guide bearing immersed in oil in an oil tank disposed around the rotor shaft. The guide bearing has a cylindrical bearing surface juxtaposed against the peripheral surface of the rotor shaft and a plurality of axially extending oil grooves formed in the cylindrical bearing surface. An oil guide member is mounted on a lower end surface of the guide bearing adjacent to the open lower axial end of each oil groove. Each oil guide member has a guide surface facing a flow of oil in the oil tank induced by the rotation of the rotor shaft for guiding the oil flow into the associated oil groove. The guide surface has a lower edge thereof remote from the lower end surface of the guide bearing, which is advanced toward the direction of oil flow with respect to an upper edge of the guide surface adjacent to the lower end surface of the guide bearing. The guide surface extends radially outwardly beyond the bottom surface of the associated oil groove.

摘要: The number of aberrant crypt foci (ACF) can be readily counted without overlooking the existence of ACF to achieve reduced observation time. A fluorescence observation apparatus includes a light source unit inserted into a body cavity of a biological organism and emitting excitation light onto an inner wall of the body cavity; an image acquisition unit that acquires image information by acquiring an image of fluorescence generated when a fluorescent probe whose fluorescence characteristic changes by reacting with a molecule existing in an ACF formed in the inner wall of the body cavity is excited by the excitation light; a position control unit that moves the light source unit and the image acquisition unit relative to the inner wall of the body cavity; and a counting section that counts the number of fluorescence generation sites included in the image acquired by the image acquisition unit.

摘要: An endoscope system is disclosed for detecting fluorescent light emitted in the near-infrared region by a plurality of fluorescent labeling materials introduced into a living tissue. An illumination system generates illumination light in the wavelength range 600 nm-2000 nm which serves as excitation light for the plurality of fluorescent labeling materials, and a detection system that can separately detect different ones of the plurality of fluorescent light emissions that are emitted at different wavelengths from among the plurality of fluorescent labeling materials is provided. The endoscope system may include a conventional-type endoscope having an insertion section, or a capsule endoscope that wirelessly transmits image data. By superimposing the image data obtained using reflected light in the visible region and fluorescent light emitted by the fluorescent labeling materials, improved diagnostic capabilities are provided.

摘要: A system and method is provided for enhancing a region of interest in a medical image to improve its visibility. A region of interest is first identified in the medical image, such as identifying a breast region in a mammography image. The identified region of interest is then enhanced using an image processing technique, for example by adjusting the intensity or contrast, or by performing edge enhancement. Other regions of the medical image outside the region of interest remain unaltered, or may be diminished, such that the clarity of the region of interest is improved in comparison with the other regions of the medical image. A user viewing the enhanced image is less distracted by the non-enhanced regions and is not required to adjust the image on his or her own. The user can more quickly and effectively review the medical image to identify abnormalities and diagnose disease.

摘要: A capsule endoscope is disclosed that includes means for illuminating an object, means for imaging the object, and a transparent cover having a center of curvature. The transparent cover covers the illumination means and the imaging means, and the imaging means includes an objective optical system and an image detecting element. The illumination means is positioned relative to the image detecting element, as viewed axially from the object side of the capsule endoscope, so that an area that is symmetrically positioned about the optical axis of the objective optical system from a light emitting area of the illumination means overlaps an area of the image detecting element, but does not overlap any areas of the image detecting element that are used for image detection.
