Abstract: A self-driving vehicle (SDV) ameliorates a vehicular mishap incurred by a second vehicle. At least one sensor on a first SDV detects a second vehicle that has been involved in a vehicular mishap. One or more processors determine a confidence level L, which is a confidence level of a mishap assessment accuracy of determining that the second vehicle has been involved in the vehicular mishap. In response to the confidence level L exceeding a predetermined value, the SDV executes an amelioration action to ameliorate a condition of the second vehicle that has been involved in the vehicular mishap.

Abstract: A system includes a wearer role identification device, a garment comprising a dynamically modifiable display, a hardware controller for adjusting the dynamically modifiable display, and a database storage device. The wearer role identification device identifies a role of a wearer of the garment wherein the role defines abilities of the wearer. The hardware controller adjusts an appearance of the dynamically modifiable display based on the role of the wearer changing from a first role to a second role. The database storage device contains a real-time role of the wearer of the garment, wherein the wearer role identification device retrieves the real-time role of the wearer of the garment as a real-time input to the hardware controller for adjusting the dynamically modifiable display, wherein the wearer of the garment holds multiple roles, and wherein the dynamically modifiable display presents visual images that simultaneously represent the multiple roles.

Abstract: An approach is provided for managing a quality of service (QoS) of an application running in a networked computing environment. Based on information received from monitoring devices or tools that monitor a state of a user, a model of a cognitive focus of attention of the user is generated. An actual QoS for a software application is determined. Based on the model, a perceived QoS is determined. A current usage by the user of software application is determined. Based on the model, the actual QoS, and the current usage, an adjustment to the actual QoS is determined, while maintaining unchanged the perceived QoS.

Abstract: Technical solutions are described to arbitrarily order and access email messages based on text analysis and social network analysis. One general aspect includes a system that includes an email server and an email client. The email server generates a topic map of email messages stored on the email server. The email server also generates a social map of users with accounts on the email server. The email server receives an email message from a first user, the email message directed to a second user. The email server sends the email message to a third user in response to determining that the email message is relevant to the third user. The present document further describes examples of other aspects such as methods, computer products.

Abstract: Software that contextualizes communications during an emergency event by performing the following steps: (i) receiving an input communication written, spoken, or communicated via gestures by a first user, wherein the input communication includes natural language-based input information relating to an emergency event; (ii) determining an output communication to be sent to a second user, wherein the output communication is based, at least in part, on the input communication, and wherein the output communication includes natural language-based output information relating to the emergency event; (iii) determining a cognitive state of the first user and a cognitive state of the second user; and/or (iv) modifying the output communication based, at least in part, on the cognitive state of the first user, wherein modifying the output communication includes modifying natural language content of the output information.

Abstract: Embodiments include method, systems and computer program products for monitoring a user for a traumatic brain injury. Aspects include monitoring a speech of the user with a microphone embedded in the helmet and analyzing, by a processor, one or more characteristics of the speech of the user. Aspects also include determining whether the one or more characteristics of the speech indicate that the user may have suffered the traumatic brain injury and creating an alert that the user of the helmet may have suffered the traumatic brain injury.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to a computer implemented neural stimulation system having a first module configured to derive neural data from muscle contractions or movements of a subject. The system further includes a second module configured to derive a neural state assessment of the subject based at least in part on the neural data. The system further includes a third module configured to derive at least one neural stimulation parameter based at least in part on the neural state assessment. The system further includes a fourth module configured to deliver neural stimulations to the subject based at least in part on the at least one neural stimulation parameter.

Abstract: Embodiments include method, systems and computer program products for reducing eye-fatigue for users of binocular head-mounted displays. Aspects include displaying a content item by a display device of the binocular head-mounted display and calculating an estimated eye-fatigue of the user of the binocular head-mounted display. Based on a determination that the estimated eye-fatigue of the user exceeds a threshold level, aspects also include modifying the content item, by the processor, to encourage the user to take an eye-fatigue reduction action and displaying the modified content item by the display device of the binocular head-mounted display.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, system, and/or computer program product controls self-driving vehicles (SDVs). An emergency message is transmitted to a receiver within a self-driving vehicle (SDV). The emergency message describes an emergency state of an emergency vehicle and an identified future route of the emergency vehicle, where the identified future route is a planned route to an emergency destination for the emergency vehicle that includes a first pathway. In response to the SDV receiving the emergency message, the SDV is redirected, via an auto-control hardware system on the SDV, to drive to a second pathway that does not conflict with the identified future route of the emergency vehicle.
