    摘要: An amplitude-stable intracavity doubled laser comprises a pair of end mirrors defining a laser cavity having a length L. A laser medium having a gain region substantially smaller than the length L of the laser cavity is positioned within the laser cavity. A doubling crystal having a nonlinear conversion region substantially smaller than, the length L of the laser cavity is positioned within the laser cavity. A pump source is oriented to supply excitation energy to the laser medium. The laser medium and the doubling crystal located at positions within the laser cavity so as to cause the laser to lase in fewer than ten longitudinal modes and to output visible light with an amplitude noise of less than about 3% RMS on visible output from the laser.

    摘要: A small diameter multimode optical fiber with a low numerical aperture (i.e., 0.1) is used as a microlens to collimate the output emissions of a laser diode before butt coupling the output of the laser diode to an optical fiber. The optical fiber used as the microlens is chosen such that its diameter roughly equals the diameter of the fiber to be coupled to the laser diode. One end of the fiber is mounted in a fixed position and the other end of the fiber is slip fit into the end of a hollow receiving member mounted in a fixed position and running parallel to the axis of the fiber. The collimation is performed in the high NA direction of the output of the laser diode. The output of a bundle of butt coupled optical fibers may be used to pump a laser system.

    摘要: A Fourier Transform Raman Spectrometer system includes a folded V laser cavity. A first leg of the folded V laser cavity is defined by a highly reflective end mirror and a dichroic fold mirror and a second leg of the folded V laser cavity is defined by the fold mirror and an output coupler. A solid-state laser gain medium is disposed in the first leg of the folded V laser cavity and is pumped by a pump source aligned with the optical path of the first leg of the laser cavity and radiating through the fold mirror. The fold mirror is highly transmissive at the wavelength of pump radiation from the pump source and highly reflective at the laser output wavelength. An output beam from the laser is passed through a tuneable filter comprising an acousto-optic device and is directed at a sample to be analyzed. Light reflected from the sample is directed to a Raman Spectrometer for analysis.

    摘要: A high effieciency pumping scheme mode matches the TEMOO laser mode volume with a plurality of spaced apart laser diode pumping sources positioned along a lateral side of a block of laser material. The cavity resonator within the block is configured in tightly folded zig-zag configuration. Pump radiation from the diode pumping sources is collimated by an optical fiber and the fold angle is selected to mode match the pump radiation to the mode volume. Parasitic oscillation across the laser block are prevented.

    摘要: A neodymium or other rare earth doped solid state laser is pumped by a matched high efficiency laser diode, including a diode array and a multi-spatial mode extended emitter diode, resulting in a compact, high efficiency and long lifetime laser assembly. The cavity mode volume is matched to a region of absorption in the pumping volume formed by the focused diode beam. Output is in the near infrared range, but can be converted to the visible spectrum by an intra-cavity frequency doubler. A doubling crystal, e.g., KTP, is placed in an optimum location in the laser cavity. Polarization of the beam for frequency doubling may be achieved by using a birefringent material for the rod or by stressing a non-birefringent rod. An amplitude noise suppression etalon may also be placed at an optimum position in the laser cavity. A folded cavity configuration produces a pair of beam waists in the cavity. Pulsed operation can be produced by means of a Q-switch.
