摘要: One method includes identifying driving conditions associated with a current location of a mobile communication device, receiving a notification to be output on the device, preventing the device from outputting the notification in response to identifying a first driving condition, and outputting the notification on the device in response to identifying a second driving condition. A second method includes identifying one or more driving conditions associated with a current location of a mobile communication device and calculating a driving hazard score as a function of the identified one or more driving conditions. The second method further includes receiving a notification to be output on the device, preventing the device from outputting the notification in response to the driving hazard score exceeding a first threshold value, and outputting the notification on the device in response to the driving hazard score being less than a second threshold value.

摘要: Disclosed are embodiments for balancing utilization of infrastructure in a networked computing environment. One example embodiment includes: mapping, for each of a plurality of workloads operating on source devices in a networked computing environment, a corresponding target device within said networked computing environment; accessing topological information defining the networked computing environment; and reducing unbalanced utilization of infrastructure in the networked computing environment including migrating a workload to an alternate device within the networked computing environment, in dependence upon the mapping and topological information.

摘要: An apparatus for workload management includes a thermal relationship module, a thermal effect module, and a resource allocation module. The thermal relationship module determines a plurality of thermal relationships among components of an electronic device. Each thermal relationship quantifies a thermal impact on one of the components of utilizing another of the components. The thermal effect module determines one or more potential thermal effects of a workload on the components based on the thermal relationships. The one or more potential thermal effects correspond to one or more possible allocations of resources of at least a portion of the components to run the workload. The resource allocation module selects an allocation of resources from the one or more possible allocations of resources to run the workload, based on the determined potential thermal effects.

摘要: Limiting the execution of background management operations in a drive array, including: receiving a read instruction to read data from a memory drive in the drive array; determining whether the read instruction is associated with a write instruction to write data to a memory drive in the drive array; responsive to determining that the read instruction is associated with the write instruction, restricting performance of background management operations on the memory drive targeted by the write instruction; determining whether the write instruction has completed; and responsive to determining that the write instruction has completed, removing restrictions associated with the performance of background management operations on the memory drive targeted by the write instruction.

摘要: A method of management notifications on a mobile communication device includes pairing a wearable smart device with the mobile communication device, and automatically disabling notifications on the mobile communication device in response to determining that the paired wearable smart device has moved away from the mobile communication device. For example, the mobile communication device may be a smartphone and the wearable smart device may be a smartwatch. Optionally, the mobile communication device and the wearable smart device may pair using a wireless personal area network standard, such as Bluetooth™, and may also communicate using a wireless local area network, such as Wi-Fi™.

摘要: An apparatus includes a computer enclosure with a first fan, a second fan, a fan controller, and an input for receiving a signal from a microphone indicating an amount of noise at a target location. The apparatus further includes a first actuator coupled to the first fan for adjusting an axial position of the first fan, wherein the controller controls the operation of the first actuator to position the first fan to reduce the noise indicated by the signal from the microphone with the first and second fans in operation. The microphone senses sound pressure and the controller automatically adjusts a position of one or more fans using an actuator to change the distance from the fan to the microphone, which may be co-located with a user, to provide destructive interference at the location of the microphone.

摘要: Apparatuses, systems, methods, and program products are disclosed for file usability based on a system configuration. A user module determines a recipient of a file that is distributed to the recipient by a sender. A system module determines a configuration of a recipient's system. An action module performs one or more compatibility actions associated with a file in response to determining that the file is not compatible with the recipient's system configuration. A compatibility action includes an action related to usability of the file on the recipient's system. A compatibility action is performed on a sender's system prior to the sender distributing a file to a recipient.

摘要: Using a conversation context to manage conference participants including receiving a request from an invitee to join a conference in progress; extracting audio from the conference; converting said audio to data describing the conference; matching data to a context, wherein the context comprises a specification of a subject matter of the conference and a list of authorized participants for the conference; comparing the invitee to the list of the authorized participants for the conference; responsive to determining that the invitee matches an authorized participant of the list of authorized participants for the conference, granting permission to the invitee to join the conference; and responsive to determining that the invitee does not match an authorized participant of the list of authorized participants for the conference, denying the invitee access to the conference.
