Abstract: The invention discloses an anti-fouling polyurethane thin film with high elasticity and high transparency, a preparation method and use thereof. The raw materials of the polyurethane thin film include the following active ingredients by mass fractions: 30% to 40% of a hard segment monomer, 40% to 50% of a soft segment monomer, 3% to 6% of a hydrophilic monomer, 0% to 3% of a crosslinking monomer, 0% to 5% of a small molecular chain extender, and 10% to 15% of a compound with low surface energy. A chemically and physically double-crosslinked anti-fouling polyurethane is synthesized through a polycondensation reaction. This thin film exhibits superior low adhesion and anti-fouling properties, and can achieve the coexistence of both low adhesion and stretchability at the same time.

Abstract: Recovery times and/or airflow of flexible polyurethane foam is increased by including certain tackifiers in the foam formulation. The tackifiers are characterized in being incompatible with polyol or polyol mixture used to make the foam, having a viscosity of at least 5,000 centipoise at 25 #C and having a glass transition temperature of at most 20 #C. The tackifier is pre-blended with certain monols to form a lower-viscosity blend that is combined with one or more other polyols and a polyisocyanate to form a reaction mixture for producing a polyurethane foam.

Abstract: A waterborne alternative polyurethane composition is provided which comprises a reaction product of: an azidated polyol; and a waterborne poly(alkynyl carbamate) prepolymer comprising a reaction product of a polyisocyanate and from 1 wt. % to 20 wt. % of an alkynol-polyether having a formula (I), R1—R2—O—R3—OH (I), wherein, R1=a monovalent group selected from either HC≡C— or HC≡C—CO—, R2=a divalent alkylene group from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and may be straight chain or branched and may contain cyclic moieties, and R3=a polyethylene glycol with number average molecular weight from 300-1,200 g/mol, wherein the wt. % is based on the weight of the prepolymer, wherein reaction of the azidated polyol and the waterborne poly(alkynyl carbamate) occurs at a temperature of from 20° C. to 200° C. and optionally in the presence of a catalyst. The inclusion of an alkynol-polyether does not materially alter the performance properties and reactivity of the waterborne polyurethane composition relative to a solventborne polyurethane control composition. Inclusion of the alkynol-polyether reduces the need for organic solvents by allowing for the use of water as a carrier. The inventive waterborne alternative polyurethane compositions may find use in or as coatings, adhesives, sealants, films, elastomers, castings, foams, and composites.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a polymeric material including a polymerized reaction product of a polymerizable composition including components and has a solids content of 90% or greater. The components include a uretdione-containing material including a reaction product of a diisocyanate reacted with itself; a first hydroxyl-containing compound; an optional second hydroxyl-containing compound having a single OH group; an epoxy component; and an accelerator. The first hydroxyl-containing compound has more than one OH group and the optional second hydroxyl-containing compound is a primary alcohol or a secondary alcohol. The present disclosure also provides a two-part composition, in which a polymeric material is included in the first part and the second part includes at least one thiol-containing compound. Further, a method of adhering two substrates is provided, including obtaining a two-part composition; combining at least a portion of the first part with at least a portion of the second part to form a mixture; disposing at least a portion of the mixture on a first substrate; and contacting a second substrate with the mixture disposed on the first substrate. The disclosure also provides a polymeric material and a method of making a two-part composition. Advantageously, two-part compositions according to the present disclosure can be used as coatings and adhesive systems with handling and performance similar to existing two-part urethane systems, but with less sensitivity to water.

Abstract: An alternative polyurethane composition is provided comprising a reaction product of an azidated polyol and a poly(alkynyl carbamate) allophanate prepolymer, wherein the poly(alkynyl carbamate) allophanate prepolymer comprises a reaction product of a first alkynol and a poly(alkynyl carbamate) prepolymer, in the presence of a metallo-organic compound of the formula: M(acac)n, wherein, M=a metal, acac=an acetylacetonate residue, and n=2 or 3, wherein the poly(alkynyl carbamate) prepolymer comprises a reaction product of a polyisocyanate and a stoichiometric equivalent of a second alkynol, and wherein the polyisocyanate comprises isocyanate groups and uretdione groups. The inventive alternative polyurethane compositions may be used to provide solventborne or waterborne coatings, adhesives, sealants, films, elastomers, castings, foams, and composites.
