Abstract:
An apparatus for safely delivering a hazardous fluid substance to a receiving structure includes a supply cylinder containing the fluid substance and having a supply cylinder release port; a high pressure containment vessel having a vessel wall, for receiving and safely enclosing the supply cylinder; a high pressure first tube extending from, and in fluid communication with, the supply cylinder release port to a vessel port in the vessel wall; and a vessel valve in fluid communication with the first tube for controlling delivery of the fluid substance from the supply cylinder and from the vessel. The vessel valve preferably includes a fluid substance sensing valve assembly mounted in the vessel port, for automatically shutting off the flow of the fluid substance at the vessel port upon detection of the fluid substances outside the containment vessel. The vessel valve preferably includes a reduced orifice controller. A process of delivering a hazardous fluid substance from a supply cylinder having a supply cylinder release valve using the above-described apparatus, including the steps of placing the supply cylinder into the containment vessel; connecting the supply cylinder release valve to the tube extending within the containment vessel; opening the cylinder release valve and the vessel valve to deliver the fluid substance from the supply cylinder and from the containment vessel.
Abstract:
A highly reliable digital level sensor assembly is provided to replace optical and capacitance type sensors in high purity chemical delivery systems. The digital level sensor assembly is particularly useful in bulk chemical refill delivery systems for high purity chemicals employing a manifold that ensures contamination free operation and canister change outs with a minimum of valves and tubing.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a pressure vessel (1) comprising at least one intermediate part (4) with an end wall (2, 3) connected to each of its ends (1A, 1B), and longitudinal internally reinforcing walls dividing said intermediate part (4) into fluid-accommodating compartments. The intermediate part (4) with enclosed reinforcing walls consists of an extruded profile with reinforcement and an intermediate part casing integrated with one another, and the respective end walls (2, 3) are capable of attachment by fastening means to the end of the respective intermediate part so that forces arising inside the vessel as a result of the internal overpressure against the respective end wall (2, 3) are distributed so that they act axially in the intermediate part (4), both in its outer casing and internal reinforcement. The invention also relates to a method for the manufacture of the pressure vessel in accordance with the invention.
Abstract:
According to the present invention, a piping installation for supplying a low temperature fluid such as liquid nitrogen from a main pipe (17) of transporting the low temperature fluid to predetermined equipments (2, 4, 6), for example a cooling apparatus, by way of branch pipes (18, 19), is characterized in that a thermally insulated pipe having a small outer diameter is used for the branch pipes (18, 19). By reducing the diameter of the branch pipes (18, 19) of the piping installation, the occupation of them in a space can be reduced, whereby spaces (3, 5) where they are installed can be effectively utilized. By reducing the diameter of the branch pipes (18, 19), furthermore, the quantity of the low temperature fluid which has been hitherto discharged wastefully can be decreased.
Abstract:
A gauge for monitoring the propane content of a propane-containing vessel includes a platform member telescopically disposed above a base member to define an intervening region. A piston and a cylinder, interactively disposed within the intervening region upon a vertical axis form a fluid-impermeable chamber within the cylinder. A fluid is confined within the chamber and communicates by way of a conduit with a pressure-indicating device. Pressure generated upon the fluid in the chamber by virtue of the weight of a vessel resting atop the platform member is sensed, and indicated in terms of pounds of weight by the pressure-indicating device.
Abstract:
A system for use in servicing and installing refrigeration systems without freon leakage comprising a connector, the connector having a first extent with an outboard end and an inboard end, the connector also having a pair of second extents, each with an outboard end and an inboard end, the inboard ends of the first and second extents being coupled together for the passage of fluid therethrough, and a radial aperture formed in an intermediate region of the first extent.
Abstract:
A buried fluid storage tank with a single fluid-tight enclosure which comprises an external concrete enclosure buried into the ground, a rigid structure with a bottom slab and possibly a covering dome as well as a fluid-tight heat-insulating envelope which defines inside of the structure a fluid loading space, whereas the external enclosure has the shape of a thick substantially fluid-tight wall, this enclosure as well as the covering dome being made integral with each other from one single piece of material and forming together with the bottom slab the stiffening structure of the tank, the invention being applicable to a confinement tank in particular for a harbor terminal for loading a liquefied natural gas.
Abstract:
An apparatus for supplying high purity gas comprises a cylinder having a valve with two internal ports. One internal port is used to fill the cylinder while the other is fitted with a unit which removes particulates and impurities from the gas as it leaves the cylinder. The unit comprises an inlet, a first filter for removing coarse particulates, layers of adsorbent and absorbent for removing impurities, and a second filter for removing fine particulates. The purified gas leaves the cylinder via the valve and after passing through a regulator, a flow control device and various lengths of tubing passes through a conventional purifier immediately upstream of the point of use. The apparatus reduces the load on the purifier and hence decreases the frequency at which the purifier has to be recharged. Potentially the apparatus could obviate the need for the purifier altogether.

Abstract:
The invention relates to cryogenic engineering. The heat-insulating means of cryogenic objects is a bank of cooled radiation shields (2) arranged coaxially with the cryogenic object, i.e. vessel (4), provided with heat-exchange channels (6) which intercommunicate through connecting pipes (7). The entire bank of shields (2) is made as an integral whole, the channels (6) being located in the body of the shields (2). The bank of shields (2) is made of a multilayered strip with a pattern of the development of the entire bank of shields (2) applied to it. Then a system of channels (6) and connecting pipes (7) is created between the strip layers in compliance with the pattern. Then the development is cut out and formed into a bank, arranging the shields (2) coaxially with pipes (7) therebetween. The heat-insulating means is intended primarily for use in vessels for storage of cryogenic fluids.
