A power-saving device and method are applicable to a first electronic device having at least one connection interface, and the first electronic device is coupled to a second electronic device via a bus. The power-saving device includes a detection circuit, a power control circuit, and a connection control circuit. The detection circuit is coupled to the connection interface, to detect a load state of the connection interface and generate a detection signal. The power control circuit controls power supplied to the first electronic device via the bus in response to a state of the detection signal. The connection control circuit controls a connection state of the bus according to the detection signal.

A semiconductor package includes a substrate and a semiconductor chip which includes an active surface with a plurality of chip contact areas. The chip is electrically connected to the substrate. The substrate includes a sheet of core material, a plurality of upper conducting traces and upper contact pads on its upper surface, a second plurality of lower conductive traces and external contact areas on its bottom surface. A plurality of conducting vias connect the conducting traces and lower conducting traces. The substrate also includes a plurality of vent holes and a layer of solder resist covering the upper and lower surfaces of the substrate leaving the contact areas free from solder resist.

Globalization functionalities for JavaScript applications are provided by asynchronously invoking globalization Web services related to specific JavaScript applications that are developed using asynchronous JavaScript and XML (Ajax) technology. A result of the asynchronous invocation is processed to obtain the corresponding globalization functionality. A client-side component invokes the globalization Web services by creating a SOAP request including specific parameters in passing that request to a server-side component. The server side component creates a result that is passed back to the client side component.

A method for packet re-flooding in a wireless ad hoc network for transmitting a broadcast packet from a source node to a destination node. In order to determine the respective nodes received with the broadcast packet from the source node into a certain number of power levels in accordance with the receiving power of the signal carrying the received packet, the packet re-flooding method includes the steps of setting a power level reference by which the power level increases as the receiving power increases, obtaining the receiving power of the signal carrying the packet received from the respective nodes but not the source node, determining power levels based on the power level reference and the obtained receiving power, calculating a back-off delay time in accordance with the power levels of the respective nodes but not the source node, and re-flooding the received packet when the calculated back-off delay time of the respective nodes excluding the source node expires and when the received packet is the first packet that is received. Accordingly, the possibility of having collisions due to re-flooding of the respective nodes is reduced, and also, overall power consumption of the network decreases.

Lithographic printing plates for wet or waterless offset printing are disclosed which can be imagewise exposed using a digitally controlled IR laser. The invention comprises a laser imagable lithographic printing plate comprising a substrate, a photosensitive coating on the substrate, and a water soluble laser ablatable top coating containing dyes or polymers that absorb infra-red, ultraviolet and visible light. Laminated transparent polymer films and/or peelable polymeric coatings films can be interposed between the coated substrate and a water soluble and/or organic solvent soluble laser ablatable top layer to augment plate production or image inscription on the plate.

An apparatus for winding steel ribbon around a vessel inner shell having forward and rearward ends to construct a pressure vessel includes a vessel support and rotation mechanism, a vessel elevation adjusting mechanism, tracks for supporting and guiding the vessel support and rotation mechanism, a carriage having rail track engaging mechanism for traveling along the track on at least one side of the vessel inner shell, and a ribbon pulling mechanism mounted on the carriage for delivering the ribbon to the vessel inner shell under ribbon tensile loading to pre-stress the vessel. The apparatus preferably additionally includes a locking mechanism for locking the vessel support and rotation mechanism to the track, after the vessel support and rotation mechanism is positioned at forward and rearward ends of a given vessel inner shell. The vessel support and rotation mechanism preferably includes several vessel support roller sets in the form of annular members rotatably mounted on tracks. A method for winding steel ribbon around a vessel inner shell using the above described apparatus, includes the steps of mounting the vessel inner shell on the vessel support and rotation mechanism, securing an end of the ribbon to the vessel inner shell, rotating the vessel inner shell, delivering the ribbon from the ribbon pulling mechanism to the vessel inner shell for winding around the inner shell, and advancing the ribbon pulling mechanism along the track on the carriage to wind the ribbon along the inner shell in a helical path.
