Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a gene which is related to a D-N-carbamoyl-.alpha.-amino acid amidohydrolase which is an enzyme capable of converting D-N-carbamoyl-.alpha.-amino acids into D-.alpha.-amino acids; a recombinant plasmid in which a DNA fragment containing the gene is incorporated into a vector; a microorganism belonging to the genus Escherichia, Pseudomonas, Flavobacterium, Bacillus, Serratia, Corynebacterium, or Brevibacterium, which is transformed by incorporating the recombinant plasmid thereinto; a process for the production of D-N-carbamoyl-.alpha.-amino acid amidohydrolases, comprising the steps of cultivating the transformed microorganism and collecting the desired product therefrom; a D-N-carbamoyl-.alpha.-amino acid amidohydrolase obtained by the method; and a process for the production of D-.alpha.-amino acids with the aid of an action of the enzyme. The D-N-carbamoyl-.alpha.-amino acid amidohydrolase can be fixed on a support for immobilization and used as an immobilized enzyme.
Abstract:
A highly thermostable polypeptide possessing protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) activity, a gene coding for the polypeptide and a process for producing the polypeptide are provided. The polypeptide possessing PDI activity is characterized by A) having a capability of catalyzing a disulfide exchange in proteins, B) recognizing mainly ribonuclease A as a substrate, C) having a suitable active temperature of 20.degree. to 70.degree. C., D) being stable at a pH value of 6 to 9, and E) having a molecular weight of about 60,000 to 62,000. Since it has a higher thermostability and exhibits a stable activity in a wider dithiothreitol concentration range as compared with the conventional PDI, it is possible to provide a novel enzyme active protein which can be advantageously used for a refolding reaction of certain proteins. Further, a process which enables the polypeptide possessing PDI activity to be efficiently produced using Humicola insolens or a transformant transformed with an expression vector containing the above-described gene is also provided.

A video camera apparatus for use in a video camera or a video tape recorder having a built-in type camera in which a video light apparatus is detachably mounted to the body of the video camera, includes a circuit whereby the video light apparatus is automatically turned ON or OFF when the video camera apparatus is in a standby mode in response to a remote control signal, so that the video camera apparatus is easy to use and the video light apparatus can be operated for a longer period of time.
Abstract:
A superconducting wire containing a multifilamentary superconducting alloy, comprising at least one composite containing a first matrix in which a plurality of superconducting alloy filaments have been arranged and a second matrix in which at least one composite is embedded; wherein said first matrix consists essentially of a metal or an alloy which does not form any intermetallic compound with the superconducting alloy filament. As the superconducting alloy filament, a Nb-Ti alloy filament may preferably be selected; the first matrix may preferably consist of one selected from the group of Nb, Ta and a Nb-Ta alloy; and the second matrix may preferably consist of Cu, A Cu-Ni alloy, Al, or an Al alloy.
Abstract:
Ethyl-.beta.-benzoyacrylate is reacted with an alkali metal salt of (S)-alanine or an alkali metal salt of N.sup.6 -trifluoroacetyl-L-lysine to form the corresponding Michael addition product, and not less than an equivalent amount of acid is added after completion of the Michael addition to prevent conversion of the (S,S) form of the product to the (R,S) form.
Abstract:
A rotary atomizing head is mounted on a fore end side of a motor. A shaping air ring having a plurality of air outlet holes at fixed intervals is provided on a rear side of the rotary atomizing head. Outer surfaces of the air motor and outer surfaces of the shaping air ring are enshrouded over the entire circumference by a cover member formed of an electrically insulating material. An external electrode assembly is provided radially outwardly of the cover member. An annular projecting portion which projects forward is provided on the shaping air ring over the entire circumference. The air outlet holes are open in a fore distal end of this annular projecting portion. As a result, a corona discharge can be generated by allowing an electric field to be concentrated at the fore distal end of the annular protecting portion.
Abstract:
A rotation restricting mechanism is provided between a mounting shaft section of a rotational shaft and a mounting tube section of a rotary atomizing head. The rotation restricting mechanism includes a male spline member provided on the outer peripheral side of the mounting shaft section, and a female spline member provided on the inner peripheral side of the mounting tube section. By meshing engagement of the male spline member with the female spline member, the rotation restricting mechanism restricts rotational displacements of the rotary atomizing head relative to the rotational shaft.

Abstract:
A method for producing a joined structure, containing: after placing an anisotropic conductive film in the predetermined manner, placing a wiring member containing a wiring plate formed thereon, where the wiring plate has a resist region in which the wiring plate is covered with a resist layer, and a second electrode region in which the wiring plate is not covered with the resist layer, so that the edge of the resist region at a boundary with the second electrode region comes above the chamfer part of the substrate; and heating and compressing the anisotropic conductive film from the side of the wiring member to melt and make the anisotropic conductive film flow into the side of the resist region to thereby cover the second electrode region with the anisotropic conductive film, so as to electrically connect the first electrode region and the second electrode region.
Abstract:
A measurement object holder that holds a measurement object in an optical measurement instrument, wherein the optical measurement instrument takes, as the measurement object, a living body in which isotropic scattering of light occurs inside and receives light emitted from the measurement object is disclosed. The measurement object holder includes a block that is formed in a predetermined outer shape by a material having optical properties in which the isotropic scattering of light occurs inside; and a cavity portion that is formed inside the block, that has an inner shape following the outer shape of the measurement object and in which the measurement object is accommodated.
