    摘要: A wheel support bearing assembly excellent in the strength and the creep resistance is provided. An inner member (3) of the bearing assembly includes a hub axle (4) made of carbon steel and having a radially outwardly extending hub flange (22) formed on an outer peripheral surface of the hub axle (4) at a location adjacent the outboard end thereof, and an inner race member (5). The hub axle (4) has a radially inwardly depressed mount (4a) defined on the outer peripheral surface thereof at a location adjacent the inboard end thereof, and the inner race member (5) is fixedly mounted on the depressed mount (4a). A raceway (3b) is defined in an outer peripheral surface of the inner race member (5). The inner race member (5) has a radially inner end edge, delimited between an inner peripheral surface thereof and an annular inboard end face thereof, which edge is chamfered to represent a rounded inner end corner (5a), and is fixed on the depressed mount (4a) by means of an annular end stop (4c) that is formed by staking the inboard end of the hub axle so as to protrude radially outwardly. The hub axle (4) also includes a hardened layer (20) formed on a surface portion of the outer peripheral surface thereof at a region between a root (22a) of the hub flange (22) and the depressed mount (4a). An inboard end of the hardened layer extends to a position between the raceway (3b) and the rounded inner end corner (5a) of the inner race member (5).

    摘要: To provide an electrically powered brake system capable of performing a control of the braking force appropriate to a particular wheel rotational speed with high response and capable of being simplified in structure with no need to employ any hydraulic equipment and the related pipe lines, the electrically powered brake system includes an actuating unit 18 including a brake wheel 16 mounted on a vehicle wheel 1 and brake pieces 17 frictionally engageable with the brake wheel 16. A drive unit 19 is operable to translate a rotary output of an electric drive motor 20 into a rectilinear reciprocating motion by means of a ball screw mechanism 23, which rectilinear reciprocating motion is transmitted to the brake pieces 17 as a braking force. An operating unit 32 is operable to control the electric drive motor 20 according to manipulation of an operating member 31 such as, for example, a brake pedal. An anti-skid control device 35 is provided for regulating the braking force, exerted by the electric drive motor 20, in dependence on the number of revolutions of the vehicle wheel 1 during a braking effected by manipulation of the operating member 31. For a rotation detector 1 for detecting the number of revolutions of the vehicle wheel 1, the rotation detector 1 including a magnetic encoder 37 is employed.

A first grooved portion is formed by removing an excess in thickness in a region between dual raceways on an outer circumferential surface of a hub and an inner race which constitute the inner member of the wheel axle bearing unit, for enlarging a space inside the bearing, thereby increasing an amount of grease that can be retained in the region between the dual raceways. Also at a position corresponding to the first grooved portion, a second grooved portion is formed by removing an excess in thickness on an inner circumferential surface of an outer race, which constitutes an outer member.

    摘要: To reduce the weight of the wheel support bearing assembly without sacrificing the strength, the wheel support bearing assembly for rotatably supporting a vehicle wheel relative to a vehicle body structure includes a hub axle (2) formed with a radially outwardly extending hub flange (12). This hub flange (12) has an inner peripheral portion and a remaining wall portion other than the inner peripheral portion, and the remaining wall portion thereof is constituted by a plurality of radially outwardly extending ribs (13) each formed with a bolt insertion hole (14). The hub axle (2) also includes a brake pilot area (16) extending outwardly from an outboard face of the hub flange (12) for guiding an inner peripheral surface of the brake rotor (41). At least the root diameter (D1) of at least an inboard face of each rib (13) is chosen to be equal to or smaller than the outer diameter (D2) of the brake pilot area (16).

The assembly includes an outer member having two raceways on its inner circumferential surface, an inner member having raceways each provided opposite a respective one of the two raceways, and rolling elements arranged in two rows between the outer and inner members. One of the outer and inner members is provided with a wheel mounting flange, and the brake rotor is mounted to the wheel mounting flange. The runout variation of a side of the brake rotor is maintained within a standard value with a fixed-side member as a datum.
