摘要: A swash plate type compressor, having a swash plate fixedly and slantingly secured to a drive shaft and also secured to pistons in such a manner that the pistons reciprocate as the swash plate rotates, has piston webs which have a sliding outer surface and a relief inner surface. A clearance exists between a circumferential surface of the swash plate and the relief surface which creates a wedge effect which, in turn, produces a lubricating film pressure that substantially reduces wear between the circumferential surface of the swash plate and the sliding surface.

摘要: A method of estimating an air-intake amount of an internal combustion engine is provided. The method may comprise detecting a fluid energy amount in an interior of an air-intake passage at first and second points in time while an intake valve is closed from a compression stroke to an exhaust stroke, and calculating a predicted air-intake amount using the values of the fluid energy amounts at the first and second points with reference to an air-intake amount calculation map showing a correlation between the values of the fluid energy amounts at the first and second points and the predicted air-intake amount in the intake stroke, the air-intake amount calculation map being pre-created by finding the values of the fluid energy amounts in the air-intake passage at the first and second points and the air-intake amount, for plural running states of the internal combustion engine.

摘要: A variable displacement compressor includes a cylinder block and a valve plate connected to the cylinder block. The cylinder block has cylinder bores and a central supporting hole. A piston is housed in each cylinder bore to compress gas. A swash plate is connected to the pistons to convert rotation of the drive shaft into reciprocation of the pistons. A cylindrical body is housed in the supporting hole. A coil spring located in the supporting hole presses the cylindrical body toward the swash plate. The cylindrical body moves axially as the swash plate is inclined. When the swash plate is minimally inclined, the valve plate receives force from the swash plate through the cylindrical body. Therefore, axial forces from the swash plate are not exerted on the drive shaft.

摘要: A variable displacement compressor that decreases displacement to reduce compression load without imbalancing the rotation of the drive shaft when the rotating speed of the compressor's drive shaft exceeds a predetermined limit value. The compressor includes a pressurizing passage connecting a crank chamber to a discharge chamber. A rotated guide rotates integrally with the drive shaft. The pressurizing passage is opened and closed by a valve body. Orbiting balls, which contact the valve body, are arranged about the axis of the drive shaft and the rotated guide. The balls follow the rotation of the rotated guide and orbit about the axis. The orbiting radius of the balls varies. A spring urges the balls in a direction decreasing the orbiting radius of the balls. When the rotating speed of the drive shaft exceeds the limit value, centrifugal force moves the balls against the force of the spring and increases the orbiting diameter of the balls. This moves the valve body and increases the size of the pressurizing passage.

摘要: In accordance with this invention, an automotive air conditioner is provided in which operational efficiency of the air conditioner is enhanced and comfortable operation may be performed with little vibration. The automotive air conditioner comprises a front seat cooling apparatus, a rear seat cooling apparatus, an environment detection device for detecting air-conditioning environment conditions, and a controller for controlling the operation of the cooling apparatuses on the basis of air-conditioning environment conditions detected by the environment detection device. A compressor drive source for either one of the cooling apparatuses is a vehicle drive source, and a compressor drive source of the other cooling apparatus is a drive source that is independent of the vehicle drive source. More preferably, the drive source that is independent of the vehicle drive source uses an electric motor. Also, the air-conditioning environment conditions to be detected by the environment detection device includes at least one of a passenger compartment temperature, an outside temperature, a solar radiation amount and a passenger set compartment interior temperature.

摘要: A heating system for a vehicle is provided which does not require a large boarding space in an engine room very much, which can be manufactured at a reduced cost, and which can fully heat a passenger compartment of a vehicle when an engine is started. For instance, in the vehicle heating system, a water pump (WP) and a viscous heater (VH) is incorporated into an installation housing (1), a plate (2) and a cover (3) which are bonded to a cylinder block of an engine. The water pump (WP) and the viscous heater (VH) are driven by a drive shaft (11) which is shared by them. Moreover, the viscous heater (VH) includes an auxiliary water jacket (WJ.sub.2). The auxiliary water jacket (WJ.sub.2) is communicated with a main water jacket (WJ.sub.1) of the engine by way of a pump chamber (4) of the water pump (WP), and is further communicated with a heater core for heating a passenger compartment of a vehicle.
