摘要: When a control section of a data carrier discriminates a command from a reader/writer, either one of two kinds of pseudo random signals is returned in accordance with a bit 0 or 1 of response data. When two autocorrelation values obtained by correlation arithmetic operations are simultaneously equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold value, the reader/writer determines that a communication has been executed with two or more data carriers, so that an error warning, an access stop, a retry, or the like is executed. The reader/writer compares the autocorrelation peak value obtained from the pseudo random signal from the data carrier with a threshold value. When it is equal to or greater than the threshold value, the reading operation is executed. In the reading operation of continuous data bits from the data carrier, the reader/writer selects the minimum value from among the autocorrelation peak values of the bits obtained by the correlation arithmetic operations and stores the selected minimum value. When the minimum memory value is smaller than a threshold value, it is determined that data could not correctly be read, so that an error is indicated.

摘要: An information processing apparatus, an information processing method, and an information providing medium are provided. Encrypted information, an encrypted first key for decrypting the encrypted information, and a second key for decrypting the first key are processed to store the information in a storage medium. To be more specific, cross certification is executed with the storage medium, the first key is decrypted by the second key, the decrypted first key is encrypted, and the decrypted first key and the encrypted information are stored in the storage medium. The novel constitution prevents unauthorized replication of information by use of a low-cost, general-purpose semiconductor memory.

摘要: When the encrypted content is provided from a service provider to a user device, a usage log including information of the content usage fee is created in the user device. The created usage log is then sent to the service provider. The service provider compares the content usage fee in the received usage log with a predetermined threshold. If the content usage fee is found to exceed the predetermined threshold, the service provider requests a clearing center to inquire about the electronic money balance of the user. If it is determined that it seems difficult to collect money from the user, the transmission of a content key to the user is suspended. The clearing center also creates an issue log in which the effective period and an allowable amount of money spent by the user are set, and performs settlement processing only when the payment of the content usage fee has been made within the effective period.

摘要: A true person can be verified with ease and a high degree of reliability. An ATM communicates with a server installed in a data center to carry out a true-person verification such as an organism authentication on the basis of an operation carried out by a user prior to a transaction process to be carried out on an account assigned to the user. When the user touches a predetermined contact area provided on an operation panel of the ATM, the ATM communicates with a portable device attached to the body of the user by using the body of the user as a communication medium. The transaction process is carried out only if the true-person verification such as an organism authentication is successful and a communication with the portable device can be performed.
