    摘要: The invention relates to a tire having a circumferential rubber tread of a cap/base construction composed of a cap rubber layer as the tire running surface and an internal base rubber layer underlying said tread cap layer. The said tread cap layer is composed of a primary tread cap portion and one or two lateral tread cap portions of rubber compositions containing precipitated silica and/or rubber reinforcing carbon black reinforcement and wherein the rubber composition of at least one of said lateral tread cap portions contains a dispersion of short carbon fibers. Said primary tread cap portion contains a major portion of the running surface of the tread and is comprised of a silica-rich or carbon black-rich, preferably silica-rich, reinforcement-containing rubber composition, and said lateral tread portion(s) contains a minor portion of the running surface of the tread and is comprised of a silica-rich or carbon black-rich, preferably carbon black-rich, reinforcement-containing rubber composition. Where said primary tread cap portion is comprised of a silica-rich rubber composition, said lateral tread cap portion(s) is comprised of a carbon black-rich rubber composition and visa versa. The said tread cap portions are load bearing portions in the sense of extending from the running surface of the tread radially inward to said underlying tread base layer. In one aspect, the portioned rubber tread cap layer and the rubber tread base layer are co-extruded together to form a unitary composite thereof.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to a pneumatic tire having a component comprising a vulcanizable rubber composition comprising, based on 100 parts by weight of elastomer (phr),(A) from about 60 to about 90 phr of a polymer comprising (1) a terminating group provided from a terminating compound XnSi(OR)mR′4-m-n wherein X is a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or an iodine atom, R is an alkyl group with from about 1 carbon to about 7 carbons, R′ is a alkyl group with from about 1 carbon to about 20 carbons, an aryl group, a vinyl group or a halogenated alkyl group, m is an integer from about 1 to about 4, n is an integer from about 0 to about 2, and a sum of n and m is from 1 to 4; (2) repeat units comprising: (a) a repeat unit provided from a conjugated diolefin monomer, and (b) a repeat unit provided from an amine monomer; (B) from about 40 to about 10 phr of polybutadiene having a microstructure comprised of about 96 to about 99 percent cis 1,4-isomeric units, about 0.1 to about 1 percent trans 1,4-isomeric units and from about 1 to about 3 percent vinyl 1,2-isomeric units; a number average molecular weight (Mn) in a range of from about 75,000 to about 150,000 and a heterogeneity index (Mw/Mn) in a range of from about 3/1 to about 5/1; and(C) from about 50 to about 150 phr of silica.

    摘要: An uncured silica-containing rubber composition having a moisture exposed surface wherein the rubber surface contains a combination of silica and a specialized tackifying resin. The moisture exposed silica degrades necessary building tack for the rubber composition. The specialized tackifying resin counteracts and significantly reduces said reduction of building tack caused by the silica/moisture interaction. Accordingly, a method of preparation of silica-containing uncured rubber is provided by processing the rubber under high shear, internal heat generation to cause the rubber composition to reach an elevated temperature followed by treating the surface of the heated rubber composition with moisture to cool the processed rubber composition where the surface of the rubber composition contains said silica together with a specialized tackifying resin. The invention further relates to building an assembly of uncured rubber components of which at east one of such components is a silica-containing moisture exposed rubber composition which contains said specialized tackifying resin. Such assembly is sulfur cured in a suitable mold at an elevated temperature to form a tire with said component, particularly where said component is an atmospherically exposed tire sidewall. Said specialized tackifying resin is a reaction product of t-butyl phenol and formaldehyde or vinyl modified product of t-butyl phenol and formaldehyde to the exclusion of sorbitan monostearate.
