Abstract:
Methods and arrangements are described for forming an array of contacts for use in packaging one or more integrated circuit devices. In particular, various methods are described for forming contacts having thicknesses less than approximately 10 μm, and in particular embodiments, between 0.5 to 2 μm.
Abstract:
Methods for synthesizing 1,4-(ketone or ketal) bridged and/or 5,14-(ketone or ketal) bridged hydropentacenes useful as soluble precursors for formation of pentacene or substituted (e.g., halo) pentacenes; precursor compounds formed thereby; methods for preparing form the precursor compounds conductive thin films comprising pentacene or a substituted pentacene, and articles including such thin films are described. Also described are tetracene and anthracene derivatives which should also be useful in the formation of conductive thin films, among other uses.
Abstract:
An apparatus for applying a tire dressing fluid to a tire surface is provided. The apparatus includes a tire engagement arm having an applicator manifold and leveling pad. The applicator manifold has an opening for receiving a tire dressing fluid and a plurality of openings for dispensing the tire dressing fluid directly onto the tire surface. The leveling pad is provided for engaging the tire surface and spreading the tire dressing fluid over the tire surface. A method for applying a tire dressing fluid onto a tire surface is provided.
Abstract:
This invention provides a masking material that can be used to protect an underling surface (e.g. an automobile surface) during an overcoating (e.g. painting) operation. The masking material in one embodiment includes a thickener and a pH control agent and water. The masking material can be applied to a surface that is to be protected from paint overspray or other coating processes, allowed to dry, and the surface then coated (e.g. with paint). After drying of the paint, or other coating, the masking material can removed by water washing.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods and compositions for creating a distinctive painted appearance on the surface of a substrate. The method involves coating a patterning composition on the surface, applying a coating of paint on the surface and removing the patterning composition.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods of providing short-term protection to an automobile exterior. In one embodiment, the method comprises applying an aqueous film-forming automotive coating composition to an automobile exterior; drying the aqueous film-forming automotive coating composition at ambient conditions to form a protective coating that does not substantially alter the gloss or color of the automobile exterior; and removing the protective coating after a period of time post-application in a manner that does not result in damage to the automobile exterior and produces a biodegradable waste stream. A two component package is also provided, the package comprising an aqueous film-forming automotive coating composition comprising a film-forming polymer and a solvent; and an aqueous wash removal composition that is at least one of a surfactant wash, a solvent wash, a solvent surfactant wash, or a combination thereof. In another embodiment, a curable coating composition is applied and cured by natural sunlight.

Abstract:
A method of temporarily protecting a surface which includes the steps of applying a continuous coating of a masking material to said surface, which masking material comprises, before drying, an aqueous solution or emulsion consisting essentially of a film-forming, carboxylic acid-containing polymer; coating all or a portion of said surface with a coating compound, said masking material preventing said coating compound from contacting said surface; and, thereafter, removing said masking material from said surface. Preferably said carboxylic acid-containing polymer is an acrylic or methacrylic acid-containing copolymer and is the sole film-forming component of the aqueous solution or emulsion.
Abstract:
The present invention is a method for making a roll cover and a roll cover, wherein at least one material is applied to the surface of the roll or a base substrate. In a first embodiment, a single material is applied as a flowable phase. A uniform coating of the material is applied to the roll, and upon setting of the material, such as by cooling, curing, or other means, a smooth and permanent roll cover is formed upon the surface of the roll. In another embodiment, at least two materials are applied in flowable phases to the surface of the roll. The first material may be a sacrificial, removable first material, applied to the surface of the roll cover in a preselected pattern. After the sacrificial material has been applied, a second material, such as a functional resin, is applied to the surface of the roll cover with the sacrificial material removed after the second material has set. In another embodiment, the use of sacrificial material is avoided and the material is applied in a predetermined pattern. In a fourth embodiment, two or more different materials are applied.
Abstract:
A vehicle masking material and method of use. The masking material in one embodiment includes polyvinyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, glycerine or triethylene glycol, a surfactant, and water. The masking material is applied to a surface which is to be protected from paint overspray or other mechanical process, allowed to dry, and paint is applied. After drying of the paint, the masking material is removed by peeling or water washing.
