    Abstract: To provide a material to be welded for butt welding which can reduce contamination of particles into a welded portion after the welding is executed and which can construct piping or a device each enabling realization with high repeatability a ultra-clean atmosphere in which the density of impurity such as moisture or the like is suppressed, and a method of cutting the same. Also to provide a wire used for wire cut electric discharge machine which can prevent reduction of chromium composition in a place adjacent to the welded bead section after the welding is executed. (1) A face to be butted of the material to be welded is cut by a wire cut electric discharge machine. It should be noted that it is preferable that the surface of the wire used for the wire cut electric discharge machine is stainless or chromium and that stainless steel or chromium having a thickness of not less than 0.1 .mu.m is deposited on the cut face. (2) As for the method of cutting, at least a face to be butted is cut by the wire cut electric discharge machine. (3) At least the surface of the wire is made of stainless steel or chromium.

    Abstract: A scarifying and deburring tool is disclosed adapted to scarify an outer surface of a tubing, pipe or fitting end and scarify and debur an inner surface of a member having an open cylindrical end such tubing, pipe or fitting end. The tool includes an elongated contoured handle with two inner surface scarifying brushes extending from opposite ends of the handle. The handle includes two outer surface scarifying brushes supported in spaced apart throughbores in the handle. A deburring plate is affixed to one side of the handle and includes an inwardly angled deburring scrapers aligned with and extending into respective throughbores. When a tubing, pipe or fitting end is inserted in a throughbore and seated against the corresponding scraper, the end is deburred when the tubing, pipe or fitting is rotated with respect to the tool. The deburring plate includes an opening that functions as a key for opening and closing "B" type acetylene tanks.

    Abstract: A method of forming vehicle wheel rims includes utilizing linear friction welding. A generally planar piece of metal material is placed into a coil position with two ends in abutment. The abutting ends are oscillated or moved, in a generally linear pattern, relative to each other to increase the temperature of the metal at each end. After the temperature has been increased sufficiently, without reaching the melting temperature of the metal, the linear motion is stopped. The ends are then aligned precisely and forced together with an increased axial load. After cooling, the two ends are permanently joined together with an essentially defect-free welded joint.
