Abstract:
Systems and methods disclosed herein to provide relayed language interpretation are disclosed herein. The relayed language interpretation permits a caller to communicate with a third party. A language interpretation call is received from a caller at a language interpretation provider. A caller language corresponding to a language spoken of the caller is determined. A first interpreter that speaks the caller language and a base language is engaged to the language interpretation call. An indication from the caller that the caller needs interpretation between the caller language and a third-party language is received. The first interpreter is permitted to engage a second interpreter that speaks the base language and the third-party language. The second interpreter is engaged to the language interpretation call. The third party is engaged to the language interpretation call. Over-the-phone interpretation of the caller language and the third-party language is performed.
Abstract:
A method includes determining information regarding a conference among a plurality of participants. The information may include a respective cumulative talk time of each of the plurality of participants. In accordance with a particular embodiment of the present invention, the respective cumulative talk times of each of the plurality of participants is graphically presented to at least one of the plurality of participants.
Abstract:
A system for operation and maintenance of network devices, including a device layer including at least one network device and a pre-processing layer including pre-processing device(s); the network device obtains a CDR of a call and transmits the CDR to the pre-processing device; the pre-processing device filters the CDR and performs centralized operation and maintenance of network devices. The network device forming the device layer, the pre-processing device forming the pre-processing layer and a method for operation and maintenance of network devices in the above system are also provided. Through the technical scheme, call services are separated from operation and maintenance management and functions of the network devices are unified, which results in more stable operation of the network devices; the operation and maintenance management will be more flexible and it becomes easier to monitor the whole network and to perform operation and maintenance of network devices.
Abstract:
Audible media among different channels is recorded and analyzed to identify repeated instances of the same media item, either within a channel or from channel to channel, over a span of time. Such media items are identified as possible advertisements. A verification process is performed to determine which of these advertisement candidates are in fact advertisements. Once advertisements are so identified, audio from various sources is monitored to identify subsequent occurrences of that advertisement by matching the monitored audio against the stored signatures. In such a manner, advertisement flighting (broadcasts) as well as user exposure to advertisements can be detected and tracked.
Abstract:
A method of implementing a call-back service by a calling party subscriber attempting to call a telecommunications device operated by a called party, comprising the steps of paging to the telecommunications device, determining that the device is not available, and noting in a calling party subscriber record that a subsequent call is to be placed to the device upon its subsequent registration. The method may include the steps of receiving an indication that the device is available and placing the subsequent call to the device. The method may also includes the steps of notifying the subscriber that the device is available and querying the subscriber as to whether the subsequent call should be placed to the device. A system for implementing a call-back service by a calling party subscriber attempting to call a called party telecommunications device comprises a node for paging the called party telecommunications device, determining that the called party telecommunications device is not available, and noting in a calling party subscriber record to place a subsequent call to the called party telecommunications device upon its subsequent registration. The system may include a calling party telecommunications device for receiving an indication that the called party telecommunications device is unavailable and for placing a call-back to the called party telecommunications device after registration occurs.
Abstract:
Handheld computers, e.g. a Palm® Connected Organizer, typically use volatile memory such as random access memory (RAM) to store user data. If the volatile memory of the handheld computer were lost before the data in it is synchronized with the user's computer, then the user's changes would be lost. In order to preserve the changes, records of changes made on the handheld computer can be stored in a non-volatile memory on the handheld computer and/or transmitted over a wireless communication channel to a computer. This computer may house multiple users' data. After a failure of the handheld computer's memory, the contents of the handheld computer memory can be reconstructed using the most recent copy of the data on the user's computer and the records of changes in the non-volatile memory of the handheld computer and/or the computer that is receiving change records over the wireless communication channel. A number of techniques may be employed to control costs associated with using the wireless communication channel such as adding the change records to other packets. Also, rules and schedules can control the use of the wireless communication channel.
Abstract:
A communications environment includes a first end user unit configured for performing network-based communications and a web site corresponding to a specific entity. The web site provides, upon an accessing of the web site, private communications between the first end user unit and the specific entity.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus in a communications system for processing a call. An activation signal is received from a terminal. Responsive to receiving the activation signal, a directory number is identified for a last call to the terminal. Responsive to a subsequent call to the terminal using the directory number, calls are selectively blocked to the terminal.
Abstract:
An announcement device in an electronic switching system is disclosed. It includes a virtual recorder in an electronic switching system. This allows for using a virtual channel for recording and monitoring voice announcements without occupying a system channel. The device includes a first switch highway (SHW) control section for controlling an announcement, a second SHW control section for controlling the announcement, a SHW channel for passing control signals of the first SHW control section and the second SHW control section, and a switch coupled to the SHW channel for performing an announcement. The first SHW control section and the second SHW control section perform address latching and data latching, respectively, for the announcement. The announcement device thus allows for a recording/monitoring service or a self loop-back test, without occupying a channel among the SHW channels performing announcement services. By introducing a virtual SHW control section and using a virtual SHW channel to an announcement device in an electronic switching system, in addition to the SHW control section, the system is enhanced.
Abstract:
A system for enabling multi-modal bookmarks comprises a bookmark repository coupled to two browsers. A user bookmarks content using a first browser, and a bookmark is stored in the bookmark repository. The user subsequently uses a second browser and requests that the bookmark be de-referenced to point the second browser to the bookmarked content. The second browser accesses the bookmark in the content repository and is directed to the bookmarked content. The first and second browsers may be visual and voice browsers that render Wireless Markup Language (WML) and Voice Extensible Markup Language (VXML) content, respectively, wherein a mapping is provided that links a given piece of visual content to an equivalent piece of voice content.
