Abstract:
A receptacle block defines one or more sockets at which plugs may be received. Each socket contains a first set of contacts and a second set of contacts. Each socket also includes a sensing contact that interacts with the second set of contacts to close an electrical switch. For example, the sensing contact can interact with an arm extending from one of the contacts of the second set. Closure of the switch can be detected and interpreted to indicate that a plug has been received at the respective socket.
Abstract:
A communication plug is described. The communication plug has a communication cable with a plurality of conductors, a plug housing, and a cable manager partially enclosed, within the plug housing. The cable manager has a load bar with a plurality of holes, a first cable management section connected to the load bar via a first hinge, and a second cable management section connected to the load bar via a second hinge. The first and second cable management sections are configured to fold together and partially enclose the cable before the cable manager is inserted into the plug housing.

Abstract:
An apparatus and method for crosstalk compensation in a jack of a modular communications connector includes a flexible printed circuit board connected to jack contacts and to connections to a network cable. The flexible printed circuit board includes conductive traces arranged as one or more couplings to provide crosstalk compensation.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a contact assembly for a combined power and data connector and to a socket assembly for a mating socket. In order to provide a combined power and data connector that allows combined transport of electrical power and data signals, which is compact, solid and may be produced cost-effectively, it is intended according to the invention that a connector face of the contact assembly comprises a data section and a second section, wherein the data section comprises a plurality of data contacts, which are separated from the second section by at least one separating wall assembly, the data contacts being arranged on a carrier unit that is mounted on a data section side of the separating wall assembly, that the carrier unit further carries electric power and wherein the at least one separating wall assembly comprises a fixation sub-assembly that fixates the carrier unit onto the separating wall assembly.
Abstract:
A stacked connector component includes a housing, connectors at a front opening of the housing and arranged in a stacked formation within one or more columns, and a for and exposed at the connectors. The pins include high-speed pins routed within the housing to a bottom side thereof and low-speed pins routed within the housing to a back side or a top side thereof. A circuit board includes pin pads connectable to the pins and disposed on a substrate. The pin pads include high-speed signal pin pads for the high-speed signal pins. The substrate includes contiguous high-speed areas in which the high-speed signal pin pads for the high-speed pins are located, between which no pin pads are located.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus (“utility”) for facilitating connection of rack-mounted data devices (50) to a data network is provided. The utility includes a distribution strip (42) and a number of network ports (44), disposed on the distribution strip (42), for use in connecting the rack-mounted data devices (50) to the network. The distribution strip (42) has a longitudinal axis, and is disposed on a rack (40) such that a length of the distribution strip (42), defined relative to the longitudinal axis, extends primarily or exclusively along a vertical axis of the rack (40). The distribution strip may further include a data network switch device. A utility is also provided that provides improved redundancy with regard to connections of rack-mounted data devices by including a distribution strip (42) that includes first and second ports (46) for connecting the distribution strip (42) to a network device (56).
Abstract:
Patch cords include a communications cable that has a first conductor and a second conductor that form a first differential pair, and a third conductor and a fourth conductor that form a second differential pair and a plug that is attached to the communications cable. The plug includes a housing that receives the communications cable, first through fourth plug contacts that are within the housing, and a printed circuit board. The printed circuit board includes first through fourth conductive paths that connect the respective first through fourth conductors to respective ones of the first through fourth plug contacts. The plug further includes a first conductive shield that extends above a top surface of the printed circuit board that is disposed between the first differential pair and the second differential pair.
Abstract:
Stacked flex cable assemblies and their manufacture are described. One assembly includes a first flex cable and a second flex cable electrically coupled to the first flex cable. The assembly also includes a connector electrically coupled to the first flex cable. The first flex cable is positioned between the connector and the second flex cable. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
