Abstract: Disclosed herein is a subwindow setting method for a face detector for detecting whether one or more facial images exist in each of subwindows having a set size while sequentially setting the subwindows in the width direction of an input image. A scan interval between two neighboring subwindows under consideration in the width direction is determined based on the facial color density of a first subwindow of the two neighboring subwindows. Further, a scan interval between the first and second rows in a height direction of the input image is determined based on the facial color density of the subwindows included in the first row.

Abstract: Provided are a method, an apparatus and a system for dense graph simplification, and a recording medium for the same. The method includes receiving an original graph and extracting a plurality of salient points, which minimize a cost representing a greatest vertical distance between the original graph and each of a plurality of lines connecting two data points in a designated region on the original graph; and outputting a simplified graph in which the extracted salient points are connected. Thus, optimal results are ensured in dense graph simplification, and interactive control is allowed for a user.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing a fatty acid alkyl ester using microorganisms having the ability to produce oil, and more particularly to a method of producing a fatty acid alkyl ester, the method comprising culturing microorganisms having the ability to produce oil, thus accumulating a large amount of oil in the microorganisms, inducing the autolysis of the produced oil in the microorganisms to produce a free fatty acid, and converting the free fatty acid into an alkyl ester. According to the method of the present invention, oil accumulated in microorganisms, such as triacylglycerol that is typical oil produced by microorganisms, can be converted into a fatty acid alkyl ester with high efficiency using a metabolic engineering approach. Thus, the method of the present invention is useful for the industrial production of a fatty acid alkyl ester which has been recently found to be effective as biodiesel.

Abstract: The present invention relates, in general, to a battery voltage equalization apparatus and method, and, more particularly, to a charge equalization apparatus and method, which decrease the withstand voltages of semiconductor switching elements while maintaining charge equalization performance, thus making it easy to implement the secondary windings of transformers while reducing the costs of the charge equalization apparatus. The charge equalization apparatus includes N first transformers (T1 to Tn) connected in series with N series-connected batteries (B1 to Bn) and adapted to decrease voltages of overcharged batteries among the N batteries. A charge storage device (Cdump) stores energy supplied from the first transformers. A second transformer (TS) redistributes energy stored in the charge storage device to the N series-connected batteries. A voltage detection and drive signal generation unit (20) detects voltages of N respective series-connected batteries, and generates a first drive signal and a second drive signal.
