    摘要: A first element of a duplex planetary gear set is selectively coupled to an input shaft via a third clutch, or is selectively fixed via a first brake. A second element is selectively coupled, via a second clutch, to an intermediate shaft that is directly coupled to a speed-increasing element of a simplex planetary gear set which increases the rotational speed of the input shaft, or is selectively fixed via a second brake. A third element is directly coupled to an output shaft. A fourth element is selectively coupled to the input shaft via a first clutch. Therefore, by increasing the speed of the rotation of the input shaft by the simplex planetary gear set and transferring it to the duplex planetary gear set, it is possible to reduce the torques on individual components of an automatic transmission and therefore to reduce the sizes of the individual components and the capacities of the individual friction engagement elements.

    摘要: A hydraulic power transmission unit includes a casing connected to an engine, a pump member fixed to the interior of the casing and a turbine mounted within the casing and connected to an output shaft, whereby the output torque of the engine is transmitted to the output shaft through fluid in the casing. A damper mechanism includes damper springs mounted directly on the inner face of the casing at its outer circumference. A damper disc serves to transmit the power of the engine to the output shaft through the damper springs. A lock-up clutch mechanism is also housed within the casing and includes a frictional engagement element arranged between the damper disc and the output shaft. The lock-up clutch mechanism is operated, i.e. frictional engagement element selectively applied and released, by a clutch piston slidably mounted within a cylinder defined by the damper disc.

    摘要: First and second hydraulic servo units operate respective frictional engagement elements in a transmission and each includes first and second cylinders, each having a side wall portion interposed between the two frictional engagement elements. The first cylinder has first outer and inner cylinder portions and the first hydraulic servo unit further includes a first piston having inner and outer cylindrical surfaces slidably supported by the first outer and first inner cylinder portions of the first cylinder for reciprocating axial motion into and out of engagement with one frictional engagement element. First return springs are arranged radially inward of the one frictional engagement element for returning the first piston. The second cylinder includes second outer and inner cylinder portions and the second hydraulic servo unit further includes a second piston having a larger diameter portion and a smaller diameter portion, slidably supported by the inner cylindrical surfaces of the second outer cylinder portion and the first inner cylinder portion, for reciprocating axial motion into and out of engagement with the second frictional engagement element. Second return springs are arranged around the inner circumference of the one frictional engagement element for returning the second piston.

    摘要: A rotary element engaging device of an automatic transmission includes a stationary member, a planetary gear set having rotary elements, a frictionally engaging element interposed between the stationary member and one of the rotary elements, a one-way clutch interposed between the stationary member and the one rotary element, and an operating member for engaging and disengaging the frictionally engaging element. The rotary element is adapted to be selectively engaged with the stationary member through two paths formed of the frictionally engaging element and the one-way clutch. The one-way clutch is disposed between the frictionally engaging element and the operating member. The one-way clutch includes an inner race connected to the one rotary element and an outer race fixed to the stationary member. The operating member is adapted to act on the frictionally engaging element through the outer race.

    摘要: A supplying port connecting to a supplying-side hydraulic pressure is arranged in a lock-up control valve. When the lock-up relay valve is switched ON (right half position), a supplying hyraulic pressure is supplied to a second oil chamber through an oil passage, led to a first oil chamber through an orifice and drained to a draining hydraulic oil passage through the oil passage. At this state in the lock-up control valve an inner pressure of the first oil chamber operates on a chamber through the oil passage, while an inner pressure of the second oil chamber operates on a chamber through the oil passage, and a controlling pressure from a linear solenoid valve operates on the controlling chamber. When the controlling pressure from the controlling chamber decreases by a deceleration of a vehicle speed, a valve closes a draining oil port and a drain port and increases an inner pressure of the first oil chamber. At this state when the hydraulic pressure of the second oil chamber increases by the contraction of the outer configuration of a torque convertor by a decrease of the centrifugal force, the draining oil port is connected to the supplying port and the hydraulic pressure is supplied to the first oil chamber to increase the hydraulic pressure of the chamber.
