摘要: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier; an exposing unit that exposes the image carrier to light to form an electrostatic latent image on the image carrier; a developing unit that has at least a toner, and develops the electrostatic latent image formed on the image carrier as a toner image; a transfer unit that transfers the toner image onto a recording medium; a fixing unit that fixes the toner image transferred on the recording medium; an exposure-energy modulating unit that modulates exposure energy of the exposing unit; and a development-time detecting unit that detects operation time of the developing unit. The exposure-energy modulating unit modulates the exposure energy based on a result of detection by the development-time detecting unit.

摘要: An image forming apparatus of the present invention includes a movable body to be charged and a charger including a charging member that contacts or adjoins the body to be charged and applies a voltage, including an AC component, to the charging member for thereby charging the body. A protection substance for protecting the surface of the body from deterioration ascribable to charging is caused to exist on the body. The number of particular elements, contained in the protection substance and detected by an X-ray photon spectral analyzer (XPS) in a zone where the charging member charges the body, is held in a particular ratio to the total number of all elements constituting the outermost surface of the body and also detected by the XPS.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a pseudo half tone processing unit that performs a pseudo half tone process on input image data to generate output image data. An exposure unit executes light modulation of a plurality of light emitting sources based on the output image data. The exposure unit performs writing in such a way that different numbers of light emitting sources are used when writing a character/line image and a picture image or a graphics image. The pseudo half tone processing unit performs pseudo half tone processes with different resolutions on a character/line image and a picture image or a graphics image based on the numbers of the light emitting sources to be used for the writing by the exposure unit.

摘要: An image forming method and apparatus, wherein a surface of a photoconductor is charged with a contact-type charging roller having a surface roughness of 2-40 &mgr;m, and exposed imagewise to form an electrostatic latent image thereon, the latent image being developed with a toner, transferred to a transfer member and fixed, and wherein the toner comprises a colorant, and a binder resin containing a tetrahydrofuran-soluble component having such a molecular weight distribution that at least one peak having a half width not greater than 15,000 is present between 1,000 and 10,000 when measured by gel permeation chromatography.

摘要: An outboard motor includes a cowling covering an internal combustion engine having a plurality of horizontally arranged cylinders. A high pressure fuel pump drive unit is arranged so as to be offset from the axes of the cylinders, at an upper end of the engine. The electrical system is provided on a first side of the engine body and a fuel system is provided on the opposite side of the engine body. Arranged as such, the components of the engine form a compact unit thus reducing the overall size of the cowling. Additionally, fuel lines and electrical conduits which connect the various components of the respective fuel and electrical systems are separated from each other.

摘要: An electrophotographic photoconductor is provided which includes a photoconductive layer formed overlying an electroconductive substrate, wherein the photoconductor includes in a top layer thereof a polysiloxane mixture selected from the group consisting of a polysiloxane mixture of an unmodified polysiloxane compound and a modified polysiloxane compound, a mixture of a methacryl modified polysiloxane compound and an alkyl modified polysiloxane compound, a mixture of a methacryl modified polysiloxane compound and a vinyl modified polysiloxane compound, and a mixture of an alkyl modified polysiloxane compound and a vinyl modified polysiloxane compound. The photoconductor has good durability.

摘要: A lift arrangement for a marine engine permits the output shaft of the engine to be vertically oriented when lifting the engine. The engine configuration results in a center of gravity located along a vertical axis which passes through a flywheel assembly of the engine. The flywheel assembly sits above an upper end of the engine block. The lift arrangement includes a pair of hangers mounted to the top end of the engine with the flywheel assembly positioned generally therebetween. The hangers are attached on opposite sides of a central, longitudinal plane of the engine. The hangers also are arranged such that a line between the hangers intersects the central, longitudinal plane at a point proximate to the vertical axis which passes through the center of gravity of said engine. With a cable connected to each hanger, the engine can hang by the cable from a lift with its output shaft vertically oriented, without removing or interfering with the flywheel assembly.

摘要: A mounting arrangement for an accelerator pump and a choke actuation mechanism, which are used in conjunction with a plurality of charge formers, minimizes the girth of the engine while making these components more accessible and easing assembly. An actuator and a choke solenoid of the choke actuation system are mounted proximate to one another and partially between adjacent induction pipes of an induction system. This position allows these components to be located on an exterior side of the induction system without interfering with the protective cowling of the motor. The accelerator pump is mounted at the end of a series of charge formers, proximate to a throttle linkage which controls throttling devices of the charge formers. This position of the accelerator pump eases the installation of this component without increasing the girth of the engine.

摘要: A linkage system interconnects a plurality of throttle shafts, while minimizing the effects of thermal expansion in the linkage on the throttle shafts. The linkage includes a plurality of linkage rods which interconnect a plurality of throttle levers attached to the throttle shafts. At least a first and a second linkage rod are connected to a first lever in a manner in which thermal expansion of the first linkage rod applies a force to the first lever which is equal but opposite to a force applied to the first lever due to thermal expansion of the second linkage rod.
