Abstract:
Provided is a polymer nanowire which contains nanoparticles so as to have new functionalities.A thin film 103 is formed on a substrate 101 and includes functional nanoparticles and polymers, and further includes a photosensitive pigment as required. The thin film 103 is irradiated with a pulsed laser. This causes a polymer nanowire 109 containing the functional nanoparticles to grow from a surface of the thin film 103.

Composite material comprising—one or more heat-activatable free-radical initiators selected from the group consisting of organic peroxides and/or initiators having labile carbon-carbon bonds and particles which have a core-shell structure and the core of which comprises one or more magnetic materials, while the shell comprises silicon dioxide.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are methods for manufacturing a functionally graded polymer material. The methods comprise preparing a melted polymer mixture comprising a thermoplastic polymer and a magnetic filler dispersed in the thermoplastic polymer, molding the melted polymer mixture and applying a magnetic field to a portion of the melted polymer mixture to form a functionally graded polymer material. The resulting functionally graded polymer material has a magnetic filler gradient formed through a thickness of the material.
Abstract:
Disclosed are the nanoparticle and the method for the same, and the preparing method includes steps of mixing polyethylenimine (PEI) with the poly(acrylic acid)-bound iron oxide (PAAIO) to form a PEI-PAAIO polyelectrolyte complex (PEC) and mixing the PEI-PAAIO PEC with genetic material such as plasmid DNA to form the PEI-PAAIO/pDNA magnetic nanoparticle. The PEI-PAAIO/pDNA magnetoplex is highly water dispersible and suitable for long term storage, shows superparamagnetism, low cytotoxicity, high stability and nice transfection efficiency, and thus the PEI-PAAIO PEC can replace PEI as a non-viral gene vector.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the development and fabrication of thin-film polymer nanocomposites containing vertically aligned nanomaterials, such as single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). In certain embodiments, the present invention utilizes liquid crystal mesophases of hexagonally packed cylindrical micelles that orient with their long axes parallel to an applied magnetic field, thereby directing the alignment of the nanomaterials, such as SWNTs, sequestered in the micellar cores. In certain embodiments, the mesophase may be a stable, single-phase material containing monomers that can be polymerized after nanotube alignment to form the nanocomposite polymer.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to polymer microgel beads having a polymeric matrix with nanomagnetic particles dispersed substantially uniformly therethrough, wherein a steric stabiliser is associated with the particles, the steric stabiliser being a polymeric material that (i) does not form part of the polymeric matrix of the beads, and (ii) comprises a steric stabilising polymeric segment and an anchoring polymeric segment, wherein the steric stabilising polymeric segment is different from the anchoring polymeric segment, and wherein the anchoring polymeric segment has an affinity toward the surface of the nanomagnetic particles and secures the stabiliser to the particles.
Abstract:
A magnetic particle comprises a polysaccharide matrix and a plurality of magnetic crystals dispersed in the matrix. A method for making magnetic particles comprises combining a basic solution with a metal ion solution and allowing the metal ions to oxidize to form magnetic crystals, and combining the magnetic crystals with a polysaccharide solution to form the magnetic particles.

It is provided by comprising 300 to 1,800 parts of strontium-ferrite, or 300 to 1,800 parts of barium-ferrite, or 300 to 1,800 parts of a mixture of strontium-ferrite and barium-ferrite, 0.5 to 2 parts of silane coupling agent, and 1 to 10 parts of lubricating agent, per 100 parts of a hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber with 15 to 50% of acrylonitrile amount and 80 to 99% of hydrogenation ratio.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a rubber magnet with a colored facial gum material layer and a rubber magnet thereof. A colored gum material layer is paved on a surface of the rubber magnet. A surfactant is added into the colored gum material layer. An identical surfactant or a surfactant with very close polarity is added into the material of the rubber magnet, whereby the surfaces of the gum material layer and the rubber magnet can tightly adhere to each other without easy peeling. In addition, antiscaling agent, wetting/spreading agent and defoaming agent are added into the gum material layer to fully wet the color and uniformly spread the color over the gum material so as to enhance the evenness of the color.
