摘要: An apparatus is provided for filling an engine cooling system with coolant fluid and for controlling fluid flow through the cooling system using three dimensional weirs in response to changes of an engine cooling system temperature. The apparatus includes a fill housing having an inlet section, an outlet section, and a fill section configured to receive a cap thereon. The inlet section is formed to include a valve seat and a flange for coupling the fill housing to an engine. The apparatus also includes a thermostat and means for coupling the thermostat to the flange to hold the thermostat within the inlet section beneath an outer surface of the flange. The fill housing is formed to include a venturi portion located between the inlet section and the outlet section to provide a pressure drop in the fill housing as fluid flows through the fill housing. The venturi portion is located adjacent the fill section to subject the fill section to the pressure drop as fluid flows through the fill housing.

摘要: The invention relates to a support and cooling arrangement for a turbocharger apparatus (1) in a big diesel engine. It comprises a uniform body part (2) supported to the engine block (3), provided with a planelike bracket base (18) for supporting the turbocharger apparatus (1) and including a first cooling water duct (11), through which cooling water is arranged to be fed into the turbocharger apparatus (1), and a second cooling water duct (12), through which cooling water is arranged to be led away from the turbocharger apparatus (1). The planelike bracket base (18) includes' connecting openings (19, 20, 21) to the said first (11) and said second (12) cooling water ducts. In addition the arrangement comprises thermostatic valve means (13) arranged in the body part (2) in connection with the said second cooling water duct (12) and which, on the basis of the temperature of the cooling water coming out (10) from the turbocharger apparatus (1), is arranged to lead the cooling water on the one hand for recirculation (14) and on the other hand for cooling (15).

摘要: A cooling water pickup system is provided for a marine stern drive. The stern drive includes an outdrive housing having a cooling water passage defined therein with first and second cooling water inlet openings defined on opposite sides of the housing and communicated with the passage. An exterior surface of the housing has first and second recesses defined therein by first and second recessed shoulders adjacent the first and second cooling water inlets. First and second inserts are received within the first and second recesses and abut the respective recessed shoulders. Each insert includes a locking member extending inward into the cooling water passage. The locking members of the first and second inserts each include a camming surface and an outwardly facing locking surface located outward of the camming surface. When the first and second inserts are placed in the recesses of the housing and moved toward each other, the first and second camming surfaces engage each other creating transversely directed camming forces. At least one of the locking members is sufficiently resilient to be deflected to allow the locking members to overlap until the first locking surface moves past the second locking surface to lock the inserts in place within the housing.

摘要: A releasably retainable fresh water flushing adaptor and method of manufacture thereof for outboard and stern-drive marine engines having an external lower propulsion housing which includes at least one fresh water intake port along the bottom forwardly bulbous portion of the lower housing. The flushing adaptor includes a molded cover which is mateably, releasably self-retaining over this forwardly portion of the lower housing and also includes a fitting connected or connectable into the bottom forwardly portion of the cover for releasable attachment to a supply of fresh water. The fitting has an internal passage in alignment and in fluid communication with the housing water intake. A water distribution groove formed into the interior surface of the cover adjacent the fitting for an increased water flow into the water intake is also provided. Releasable strap means either connected to or completely circumscribing lower housing and cover may also be provided to eliminate any tendency for the cover to be forced from disengagement with the lower housing by engine vibration or water pressure.

摘要: A car spoiler having an aerodynamic surface for controlling the airflow around the automotive body is provided with a built-in liquid handling means which is used as a liquid reservoir, heat storage tank, or heat exchanger. The heat storage tank may be used to store the hot coolant of the cooling system of the engine during normal operation and to supply the hot coolant to the cooling system in order to quickly warm up the engine or to the hot-water car heater system in order to heat the passenger compartment during cold start of the engine. The built-in heat exchanger may be used to cool the engine coolant, engine lubricant, or transmission oil of the automatic transmission system.
