Abstract:
Lubricating films are formed on end surfaces of a swash plate, respectively. The lubricating films make slide contact with shoes, respectively. The lubricating films are composed of a copper based material containing no lead, and solid lubricant other than lead is contained the copper based material. A good slide contact characteristic may be obtained while using no lead.
Abstract:
A swash plate type variable displacement compressor has a housing, a drive shaft, a swash plate and a piston. The housing includes a cylinder block, a front housing, and a rear housing. The drive shaft is rotatably supported by the housing. The swash plate is connected to the drive shaft, and is integrally rotatable with the drive shaft and tiltable relative to the drive shaft. The piston engages with the swash plate through a pair of shoes. Rotation of the drive shaft is converted to reciprocation of the piston through the swash plate and the shoes, and the displacement of the compressor is adjusted by varying the inclination angle of the swash plate with respect to the axis of the drive shaft. The swash plate includes a base member made of copper series and a sliding layer coating a sliding surface of the base member with respect to the shoes.
Abstract:
A valve seat (2) is formed by build-up cladding by irradiating a laser beam on a copper alloy powder (4) provided in the rim of a port (3) formed in an engine cylinder head (1). The copper alloy powder (4) consists of copper (Cu), 6-9 wt % nickel (Ni), 1-5 wt % silicon (si), and 1-5 wt % of one of molybdenum (Mo), tungsten (W), tantalum (Ta), niobium (Nb) and vanadium (V). Due to this composition, the valve seat (2) has few microcracks and excellent abrasion resistance.
Abstract:
A variable displacement compressor includes a simplified hinge mechanism located between a rotary support and a swash plate. The hinge mechanism includes a swing arm extending from the swash plate and a pair of support arms extending from the rotary support such that the swing arm is placed between the support arms. A guide pin is attached to the swing arm. The guide pin has end portions engaging with guide holes of the support arms. Washers are located between the swing arm and the support arms to prevent the swing arm from directly contacting the support arms.
Abstract:
A hinge ball for a variable capacity wobble plate compressor includes a central through hole 27 for permitting a shaft 5 to loosely extend therethrough, and an outer peripheral wall 9b in a convex form for being slidably fit with an inner peripheral wall 43a in a concave form of a boss 43 of a drive hub 41 rotatively fitted on the shaft 5. The shaft 5 is higher in hardness than the hardness of the boss 43 of the drive hub 41, and the outer peripheral surface 9b in sliding contact with the inner peripheral surface 43a of the boss 43 of said drive hub 41 is lower in hardness than the hardness of the shaft 5 and the boss 43 of the drive hub 41 or equal in hardness thereto. The hardness of the inner peripheral wall 9a defining the central through hole 27 is made higher than the hardness of the boss 43 of the drive hub 41.
Abstract:
A swashplate assembly for an air conditioning compressor comprising a die cast aluminum swashplate with shoe bearing surfaces formed during the die casting operation, a swashplate driveshaft with a knurled portion press fitted into an opening in the hub of the swashplate and an assembly of one-price, semi-spherical sintered metal shoes engageable with the swashplate bearing surfaces for translating rotary motion of the swashplate into reciprocating motion of the compressor pistons.
Abstract:
A cylinder block for a multi-cylinder hydraulic or hydrostatic piston device is provided having a control layer comprising a sintered friction metal layer sintered onto the cylinder block under the simultaneous action of pressure and heat. The end surface of the cylinder block is first provided with an electrodeposited metal layer. The electrodeposited layer has a crystal lattice constant compatible with the sintered layer and the material of the cylinder block. The cylinder block is preferably made from steel or aluminum and the electrodeposited layer is preferably copper or nickel. After the friction metal layer, preferably bronze, is sintered onto the electrodeposited layer, the cylinder block is treated to improve the strength and wear characteristics of the cylinder block without injuring the sliding friction characteristics of the sintered friction metal layer. In the case of steel, the preferred treating process is gas nitriding, and in the case of aluminum or an aluminum alloy, the preferred treating process is anodizing.
Abstract:
A method for constructing and breaking in piston engines includes applying an integral phosphate layer to the interior cylinder wall prior to the insertion of the piston into a cylinder. The invention includes the improved engine so constructed. The phosphate layer decreases oil consumption and improves piston ring seating in such an engine. The phosphatizing solution includes a zinc or manganese salt in phosphoric acid at a pH between about 2.5 and 4.
Abstract:
A swash-plate type compressor provided with a pair of thrust bearings arranged at opposite ends of the swash plate to support thrust loads caused by the swash plate. The thrust bearings each comprise a plurality of seats in the form of blind holes formed in end faces of central seating portions formed on the cylinder blocks and a plurality of bearing members each having its one end portion slidably fitted in a corresponding one of the seats. The seats or blind holes are formed in the end face of each central seating portion along the perimeter of the opening of a drive shaft-fitted axial hole formed in the central seating portion and in a circumferentially spaced arrangement. The bearing members each have its other end portion formed with a planar end face and have this planar end face disposed in slidable face-to-face contact with a corresponding end face of the boss of the swash plate.
Abstract:
Shoes for operatively connecting a swash-plate with the compression pistons of a swash-plate type compressor are made from a novel Cu-based alloy. Improved shoes are characterized by a combination of high heat conductivity and excellent wear resistance properties particularly when subjected to a lubricating condition so severe that no lubricating oil is supplied to the surface of the shoes at the initial period of the compressor operation. Phosphorus and elements of C group (Pb and/or Sn), as well as elements of A group (Mn and Si) and/or B group (the IVb and VIb groups of the periodic table), are added in predetermined amounts to the Cu-based alloy, so that the properties mentioned above are simultaneously obtained. The compressor according to the present invention can be reliably employed, without the occurrence of seizure over a long operational period for air-conditioning vehicles, in which the sliding condition of the shoes is drastically varied with the rotation of the engine.
