摘要: A light trap suitable for use in an optical imaging system includes a hollow sphere, with a hollow cylindrical tube attached substantially tangent to the surface of the sphere, and forming a chimney. The interior and exterior surfaces of the sphere are coated with a low-reflective coating, such as flat black paint. A sample to be imaged is placed over the opening of the chimney with an imaging system and illumination source directed downward into the chimney itself. Light which passes through or around the sample is captured in the sphere, so that it is not reflected back into the imaging system.

摘要: An infrared sensor including an absorber for absorbing incident infrared power to produce a signal representing the temperature of a target object, a frame supporting a membrane which carries the absorber, the frame including a plurality of reflecting surfaces disposed about the circumference of an opening over which the membrane spans for reflecting incident infrared power toward the absorber. By concentrating incident infrared power through reflection, the temperature difference between the absorber and the surrounding frame is increased, thereby producing an increased electrical output from the sensor.

摘要: An infrared ray detector includes an array of pixels each including an infrared ray sensitive section having a first thermo-sensitive resistor and an infrared ray non-sensitive section having a second thermo-sensitive resistor. The second thermo-sensitive resistor is covered by an infrared ray reflector film. A pair of visors extending from the first thermo-sensitive resistor overhang the adjacent second thermo-sensitive resistor. A difference between the output signals from the first and second thermo-sensitive resistors is delivered as an output signal which cancels the fluctuation caused by the ambient temperature or Joule heat of the bias current.

摘要: A far-infrared image is directed onto a transducer having a planar array of absorbing discs on one side. The discs are supported by a thin membrane ich expands and bulges as the discs heat up. The discs thus change their spacing with respect to a partially reflective mirror. The nominal spacing between the discs and mirror is about 1/4 wavelength of the infrared radiation, such that absorption is enhanced. The mirror is supported on a transparent substrate through which visible or near-infrared light is shown, and carries a perforated mask atop an insulating layer and in registration with the discs. The mirror/discs thus establish a Fabry-Perot cavity for the visible or near-infrared light, whereby a visible or near-infrared image may be observed or detected as the various discs establish various spacings in accordance with incremental variations in the infrared image. An electrostatic field is established between the mirror and the shield by a voltage source. This field induces an electrostatic field in the discs to pre-bias the discs toward the mirror and thus to tune or adjust the sensitivity of the transducer.

An optional optical impedance matching layer 66 may be deposited over the porous film 64. Advantages include decreased thickness of the thermal sensor, improved acuity of the image produced by the system, lower manufacturing temperatures, and the ability to use electrodes that are opaque to infrared energy.

摘要: Infrared detectors, such as thermistors, thermocouples, thermopiles, pyroelectric detectors, and the like, are rendered insensitive to short wave radiation, such as the visible or near infrared, but sensitive to longer wave infrared, for example, beyond 4.5.mu. by coating the active surface of the detector with a strong reflector of visible light but which absorbs infrared at least in the range from 7.mu. to somewhat beyond 10.mu.. A preferred example of the paint, which appears white to the eye, is titanium dioxide, but this is not the only material which can be used as any white or strongly diffuse reflecting coating which absorbs in the infrared from 7.mu. on can be used. The infrared instrument for which the detector is particularly useful is an intrusion detector or burglar alarm which is activated by the infrared radiation from the intruder, which is in the range from around 7.mu. to 10.mu. and beyond. The strongly diffuse reflecting action in the visible prevents false alarms from ambient light. As is common, the detector can be mounted in a housing which protects it and which is provided with a window that transmits infrared. Improved differential sensitivity is obtained by coloring the window, which may be of a plastic such as polyethylene, with dyes or pigments which are opaque or poor transmitters for visible light.

摘要: The present disclosure provides a sensing device including a substrate and a sensing pixel. The sensing pixel is disposed on the substrate and includes an electrode and a thermistor. The thermistor is electrically connected to the electrode and is separated from the substrate by an air gap. When the sensing pixel is operated in a period, the electrode receives a voltage, and a part of the thermistor moves toward the substrate, such that the thermistor is in thermal conduction with the substrate.
