A method of producing tinned coffee is described in which coffee granules 20 are held within a receptacle 16 attached to an end cap 36 of a container 12. The receptacle 16 is provided with a filter 22 to enable a water, sugar solution, milk mixture etc., held within a volume 14 of the container 12 to pass into and out of the receptacle 16 while preventing the coffee granules 20 from escaping the receptacle 16. Coffee is made by heating the sealed container 12 to cause extraction of the coffee from the coffee grounds 20. As the grounds 20 are sealed within the container 12 prior to extraction, all volatile aromatic components of the coffee is retained within the container 12 and infused into the water and milk held therein.

The beverage includes ½ cup of sugar, ½ cup of fructose fruit sugar, ½ cup of fructose corn syrup, 4 tablespoons of maltodextrin, 1½ teaspoons of citric acid, ¼ teaspoon of sodium, ¼ teaspoon of potassium citrate, 4 tablespoons of lemon-lime juice, 1 ounce of orange pekoe tea, 1 ounce of pekoe cut black tea, and 1 gallon of carbonated water. The method of making the beverage includes the steps of boiling ½ cup of water, 1 ounce of orange pekoe tea, and one ounce of pekoe cut black tea; straining the liquid off in a large container; adding ½ cup of sugar, ½ cup fructose fruit sugar, ½ cup of fructose corn syrup, 4 tablespoons of maltodextrin, 1½ teaspoons of citric acid, ¼ teaspoon of sodium, ¼ teaspoon of potassium citrate, 4 tablespoons of lemon-lime juice, and 1 gallon of carbonated water; and stirring the mixture until it is dissolved.

A non-tea-based, packaged beverage with a green tea extract mixed therein contains the following ingredients (A) and (B): (A) 0.06 to 0.5 wt. % of non-polymer catechins, and (B) 9 to 13.5 mM of citric acid or a salt thereof. Its pH is from 3.4 to 4.2. The non-tea-based, packaged beverage contains catechins at a high concentration, is reduced in bitterness and astringency, is suited for long-term drinking, and is excellent in the stability of bitterness and astringency and also in the feeling as it passes down the throat, and moreover, its color tone remains stable over a long term even when packed in a clear package and stored at high temperatures.
