A method of bulk curing primed burley tobacco leaves successfully within an approximate one-week curing cycle utilizing bulk curing equipment currently used in curing bright leaf tobacco by effecting the coloring of the primed burley tobacco within a time period which does not exceed approximately 80 hours during which the leaves are subjected to temperature increases of no less than approximately 1/2 * per hour and no greater than approximately 5* per hour and a maximum temperature of between 105* and 115* and relative humidity conditions of between 75% to 95% and then, after achieving the desired brown color, subjecting the leaves to a temperature increase which likewise does not exceed 5* per hour to initially set the desired brown color, whereafter the leaves are dried and then brought to order within a total time period which does not exceed approximately 168 hours.
