摘要: A wet coating composition useful for coating a cellulosic fiber-based substrate is provided. The composition includes two aqueous emulsions. The first emulsion includes an oxidized paraffin/polyethylene wax and the second emulsion includes an ethylene/acrylic acid copolymer wax, ethylene/acrylic amide copolymer wax, ethylene/acrylic acid/acrylic amide copolymer wax or a mixture thereof. The oxidized paraffin/polyethylene wax has a surface energy less than or equal to 25 mN/m being substantially dispersive energy. The wet coating composition when dried forms a coating having a surface energy ranging from 20 to 60 mN/m being the sum of dispersive and polar energies. A process for treating a cellulosic fiber-based substrate with the wet coating composition, a substrate coated and articles including the coated substrate are also described. The process involves a heating step to allow migration of the coating towards a core of the cellulosic fiber-based substrate.

摘要: A fluorine-free composition includes at least one polycarbodiimide compound derived from a carbodiimidization reaction of a carbodiimidization reaction mixture comprising at least one oligomer, wherein the oligomer comprises at least one isocyanate end group and at least two repeating units, wherein each of the at least two repeating units comprises at least one hydrocarbon group having at least 16 carbon atoms. The composition may also include at least one paraffin wax. Such compositions are useful for treating fibrous substrates to enhance their water-repellency.

摘要: The disclosure relates to methods and compositions for enhancing the performance of a sizing agent in a papermaking process using a sizing agent enhancer. The sizing agent can be emulsified with an emulsifier and the sizing enhancer can be a polymer comprising at least one primary or secondary amine containing monomer. The method can comprise emulsifying the sizing agent with the emulsifier; and thereafter adding the emulsified sizing agent and the sizing enhancer, separately from or contemporaneously with the emulsified sizing agent, to a fiber furnish of a papermaking process. The combination of the emulsified sizing agent and the sizing enhancer improves the sizing of product paper over the use of the sizing agent without the sizing enhancer. In at least some embodiments, the emulsified sizing agent is ASA emulsified with a polymer comprising at least one primary or secondary amine containing monomer and the sizing enhancer comprises a diallylamine-acrylamide copolymer.
