    摘要: A shoulder adjuster apparatus 10 includes an adjusting base 1 secured to a car body, a sliding base 2 mounted on the adjusting base 1, and a garnish 3 sliding together with the sliding base 2. The adjusting base 1 includes side walls 11 formed by bending both edges, which are arranged in the width direction, at about 90 degrees with respect to a flat surface 13 to be attached to the car body, and engaging portions 12 formed by bending the ends of the side walls 11 inwardly. The engaging portions 12 and the side walls 11 form acute angles. The sliding base 2 is slidably inserted into a sliding part, which is defined by the side walls 11, the engaging portions 12, and the flat surface 13. According to the structure as described above, a shoulder adjuster apparatus having excellent shock absorbency, capable of preventing degradation of performance due to deformation and the like, and having excellent safety characteristics can be provided.

According to one embodiment, a steering wheel positioning method includes sensing occupant characteristics of an occupant in a seat facing a steering wheel. In another embodiment, a safety restraint control method includes sensing occupant characteristics of an occupant in a seat facing a steering wheel, and determining a position of the steering wheel. An inflator control for an airbag in the steering wheel is adjusted based on the occupant characteristics and the position of the steering wheel.

    摘要: A vehicle occupant restraint having an adjustable web tether utilizes a first section of webbing that is tautly positioned between the vehicle floor and an upper mounting location. A second section of webbing extends from a floor-mounted (or wall- or seat-mounted) emergency locking retractor (ELR) and through a turning point at the upper mounting location, after which the second webbing section transitions to a shoulder belt for the occupant. In order to provide a pivot point for the shoulder belt, an adjustable web tether is mounted to the first webbing section and captures the second webbing section in sliding engagement by means of a ring. The ring of the web tether therefore provides a pivot point for the shoulder strap. The vertical position of the web tether upon the first webbing section is adjustable, so that the height of the shoulder strap pivot point, and therefore the trajectory of the shoulder strap across the occupant, is adjustable.
