Abstract:
A direct injection engine including an injector disposed in an upper portion of a combustion chamber defined above a piston disposed in a cylinder of the engine with a fuel injecting direction of the injector being provided so that a fuel being injected toward a top portion of the piston, an ignition plug disposed at an upper portion of the combustion chamber, an engine operating condition detector for detecting an engine operating condition. The fuel is injected in a compression stroke from the injector when it is detected by the engine operating condition detector that the engine is in a low engine load and speed zone so as to stratify an injected air fuel mixture around the ignition plug to accomplish a stratified combustion. The engine further includes a fuel controller for controlling an fuel injection so as to inject the fuel plural times into the combustion chamber in a compression stroke when at least one of an engine load and an engine speed is relatively high in an engine operating zone for accomplishing the stratified combustion. A stable combustion is accomplished to improve the fuel consumption efficiency.

Abstract:
A direct injection engine includes an ignition assistance section applying energy to fuel injected into a cylinder using an injector to assist auto-ignition combustion of the fuel when the engine is within an auto-ignition combustion operation range. A start time of fuel injection is set within a period from a terminal stage of a compression stroke to a compression top dead center. The energy is applied to the fuel injected into the cylinder in a period from start of the fuel injection to an initial stage of an expansion stroke such that a time of a specific crank angle when an increase rate of in-cylinder pressure, which is a ratio of a change in the in-cylinder pressure to a change in a crank angle in motoring the engine, reaches a negative maximum value overlaps a combustion period when a combustion mass percentage of the fuel ranges from 10% to 90%.

The defect inspecting apparatus, which has a plurality of configuration units and inspects defects on the surface of a sample, is provided with a means for monitoring time-dependent changes and failures of some of or all of the configuration units, and a means for notifying the user of the results of the monitoring. Furthermore, a unit which can perform correction is provided with a correcting means, and also a means for replacing a failure component with a spare component which has been prepared in the device.
Abstract:
An image forming device includes a head including a nozzle that discharges an electrically-conductive recording liquid in accordance with a driving signal; an intermediate transfer body on which the recording liquid discharged by the head is applied; a voltage apply unit that applies a voltage between the intermediate transfer body and the head, so as to decompose the electrically-conductive recording liquid by electrolysis; a transfer unit that transfers an image supported on the intermediate transfer body onto a recording material; and a discharging control unit that generates the driving signal that causes the electrically-conductive recording liquid to be discharged from the nozzle. The discharging control unit generates the driving signal so that a position of a meniscus is placed outside the nozzle during a time interval in which the recording liquid temporarily bridges between the head and the intermediate transfer body.
