A display device capable of realizing a desired color temperature is provided. Phosphor layers 5a, 5b and 5c, which are excited by ultraviolet radiation produced by discharge and emit red, green and blue visible light, are formed inside a red, green and blue gas discharge tube 1a, 1b, and 1c, respectively. The height Yc of the phosphor layer 5c with respect to a rear support body 20 is higher than the heights Ya and Yb of the phosphor layers 5a and 5b with respect to the rear support member 20, and establishes the relationship Yc>Ya=Yb. Therefore, the distance from the phosphor layer 5c to the opposite discharge surface on a front support body is shorter than those from the phosphor layers 5a and 5b, the visible light emitted from the display device 10 is shifted toward blue, that is, the color temperature increases.

When the substrate bias voltage Vbb lowers by the pumping operation of the charge pump circuit, a drain-to-source resistance of the N-transistor becomes high. When a first power supply voltage Vcc is set at high value, a drain-to-source current of the N-transistor increases (I+ΔI1), however the drain-to-source current decreases (I+ΔI1−ΔI2) by the increase of the drain-to-source current owing to the substrate bias effect so that the increase of the potential of the node N34 caused by the increase of the first power supply voltage VCC is restrained. As a result, a reference level of the substrate bias voltage Vbb does not largely lower than the reference level of the substrate bias voltage. Vbb when the first power supply voltage VCC is in a standard level.

A feedback controlled substrate bias generator having a substrate bias level sensing circuit, a charge pump circuit and an improved oscillator is disclosed. The substrate bias level sensing circuit is coupled to a semiconductor substrate for sensing a bias voltage of the semiconductor substrate and outputting a control signal in response to the sensed bias voltage. The charge pump circuit is coupled to the semiconductor substrate and the substrate bias level sensing circuit for receiving a clock pulse and the control signal and supplying the bias voltage to the semiconductor substrate in response to the received signals. The improved oscillator is coupled to the charge pump circuit for generating the clock pulse. The improved oscillator has a loop circuit having a plurality of serially and circularly coupled inverters each of which has a source terminal applied to voltage from a voltage source, an input terminal for receiving an input signal and an output terminal for outputting an output signal. The improved oscillator further has a plurality of switches each of which has a control terminal, a first terminal coupled to the source terminal of a corresponding inverter of the loop circuit and a second terminal coupled to the voltage source. Each of the switches electrically cuts the first and second terminals when the input signal of the one of the inverters except for the corresponding inverter changes from one level to another.

There is disclosed a cable having a covering layer on the outside of a multicore stranded wire composed of plural insulated conductors that are intertwined, wherein at least an outermost layer of the covering layer is made of a crosslinked product of a resin composition containing (a) 10 to 60% by weight of a polyamide elastomer made up of a block copolymer whose hard segment is a polyamide, (b) 5 to 60% by weight of a thermoplastic polyurethane resin, (c) 10 to 60% by weight of a thermoplastic polyester elastomer, and (d) 0 to 20% by weight of a thermoplastic styrene elastomer. The airtightness and the watertightness at the interface between the cable and a molded body are kept for extended periods without taking any particular sealing measures. The corrosion of the conductors in the cable and the deterioration of the performance of the connected parts of machinery and tools can be prevented, and the cable has excellent water resistance.
