摘要： A valve/seal assembly that is adapted for use in a variety of applications, such as for example, medical, consumer beverage, pharmaceutical containers, automobile, household appliance and marine. The valve includes, a valve housing having an upper body portion and a lower body portion and a generally spherical valve member. The upper and lower body portions of the housing define an internal chamber for accommodating the valve member and a central axis for the valve. The generally spherical valve member is seated within the internal chamber of the valve housing and has an axial bore extending therethrough. The valve member is mounted for movement between an open position; wherein the axial bore of the valve member is axially aligned with the inlet and outlet ports of the valve housing, and a closed position; wherein the axial bore of the valve member is out of alignment with the inlet and outlet ports of the valve housing. The valve assembly further includes a camming mechanism that is operatively associated with the valve housing and the valve member for moving the valve member between the open position and the closed position.

摘要： A valve assembly that includes a valve housing having an upper body portion and a lower body portion, the upper and lower body portions defining an internal chamber for accommodating a valve member and a central axis for the valve, the housing having axially aligned inlet and outlet ports formed in the upper and lower body portions, respectively. The valve assembly also includes a generally spherical valve member seated within the internal chamber of the valve housing and having first and second bores extending therethrough, the first bore defining a first longitudinal axis and the second bore having a second longitudinal axis offset relative to the first longitudinal axis, the valve member mounted for movement between a first position wherein the first bore of the valve member is axially aligned with the inlet and outlet ports of the valve housing and the second bore of the valve member is axially misaligned with the inlet and outlet ports of the valve housing, and a second position wherein the second bore of the valve member is axially aligned with the inlet and outlet ports of the valve housing and the first bore of the valve member is axially misaligned with the inlet and outlet ports of the valve housing. The valve assembly also includes a camming mechanism for moving the valve member between the first position and the second position, including cam surfaces formed on the exterior surface of the valve member and a cam pin formed on the interior surface of the upper body portion of the housing, wherein the cam surfaces formed on the exterior surface of the valve member are defined by a pair of arcuate cam lobes formed at angles to one another.

摘要： A detachable anvil assembly for use with an apparatus for performing circular anastomosis of tubular organs includes an elongated anvil rod having proximal and distal end portions and an anvil head mounted to the distal end portion of the anvil rod. The distal end portion is pivotally mounted and is adapted to pivot approximately plus or minus ninety degrees relative to a longitudinal axis defined by the rod. An elongated delivery member detachably receives the anvil assembly and facilitates delivery of the anvil assembly to the operative site. The pivoting feature of the distal end reduces the transverse profile of the assembly which consequently facilitates introduction and advancement of the anvil assembly within the tubular organ.

The instrument includes a handle portion, an endoscopic portion extending from the handle portion, an articulating section pivotably connected to a distal end portion of the endoscopic portion, and a retractor assembly operatively associated with the articulating section. Structure is provided for manipulating the articulating section relative to the longitudinal axis of the endoscopic portion within an angular degree of rotation. An injection port may also be provided to deliver fluids through the endoscopic portion to the operative site.

摘要： A surgical clip applicator comprising a housing, a pair of handles pivotally connected to opposite sides of said housing, and a jaw blade assembly fixedly connected to the housing. The jaw blade assembly includes a pair of jaws for receiving and deforming a clip therebetween and a clip carrier for supplying a series of clips to said jaws. A channel assembly is slidably mounted in the housing and envelops said jaw blade assembly. A forming cam is connected between and to said handles and said channel assembly for sliding said channel assembly in a distal direction in response to closing of said handles together to move said jaws towards each other. A feed cam bar slidably mounted in said channel assembly in overlying relation to said clip carrier, said bar having a nose at its distal end. A pusher bar sidably mounted in said channel assembly for advancing clips along said clip carrier. A first spring member connected between said cam bar and said forming cam for sliding said cam bar in a proximal direction in response to closing of said handles together and further biasing said channel assembly in a proximal direction. Second spring member biasing said pusher bar in a distal direction to push a foremost clip in said clip carrier between said jaws in response to opening of said handles from each other. A clip retainer for preventing movement of said spring biased pusher bar is also provided.

摘要： A handle for a laparoscopic instrument is provided for manipulating a distal laparoscopic tool. The handle includes a casing, a pivot handle pivotally attached to the casing, and an actuating shaft mechanism extending outward from the casing. Attached at the distal end of the actuating shaft opposite the casing is the laparoscopic surgical tool. The actuating shaft mechanism is longitudinally movable in a first direction by a pivotal movement of the pivot handle for manipulating the laparoscopic tool. A detent carried by the casing allows movement of the shaft longitudinally in the first direction while restraining longitudinal movement of the shaft in a second opposite direction. A thumb wheel attached to the actuating shaft mechanism allows the actuating shaft mechanism to be rotated for further manipulating the laparoscopic tool.

摘要： A surgical instrument for sizing the lumen of an organ is provided. The lumen sizer comprises a handle member with a projection at either end. Each projection has a substantially cylindrical sizing portion of different diameter, each diameter corresponding to the working range of a surgical instrument to be used on the organ or to the diameter of a prosthetic device to be attached to the organ. Tapered insertion regions having atraumatic tips extend from each of the substantially cylindrical sizing portions. The surgical instrument provides a fast and simple technique for measuring the lumen of an organ.
