Abstract: Systems and methods of processing crowdsourced navigation information for use in autonomous vehicle navigation are disclosed. A method may include processing, by a mapping server, crowdsourced navigation information from a plurality of vehicles obtained by sensors coupled to the plurality of vehicles, wherein the navigation information describes road lanes of a road segment; collecting data about landmarks identified proximate to the road segment, the landmarking including a traffic sign; generating, by the mapping server, an autonomous vehicle map for the road segment, wherein the autonomous vehicle map includes a spline corresponding to a lane in the road segment and the landmarks identified proximate to the road segment; and distributing, by the mapping server, the autonomous vehicle map to an autonomous vehicle for use in autonomous navigation over the road segment.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for vehicle navigation. In one implementation, a system may comprise at least one processor. The processor may be programmed to receive images representative of an environment of the host vehicle and analyze the images to identify a first object and a second object. The processor may determine a first predefined navigational constraint implicated by the first object and a second predefined navigational constraint implicated by the second object, wherein the first and second predefined navigational constraints cannot both be satisfied, and the second predefined navigational constraint has a priority higher than the first predefined navigational constraint. The processor may determine a navigational action for the host vehicle satisfying the second predefined navigational constraint, but not satisfying the first predefined navigational constraint and, cause an adjustment of a navigational actuator of the host vehicle in response to the determined navigational action.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for vehicle navigation. In one implementation, a system may comprise an interface to obtain sensing data of an environment of the host vehicle. The processing device may be configured to determine a planned navigational action; identify, a target vehicle in the environment of the host vehicle; predict a distance between the host vehicle and the target vehicle if the planned navigational action was taken; determine a current host vehicle stopping distance based on a braking capability, acceleration capability, and speed of the host vehicle; determine a current target vehicle braking distance based on a speed and braking capability of the target vehicle; and implement the planned navigational action when the predicted distance of the planned navigational action is greater than a minimum safe longitudinal distance calculated based on the current host vehicle stopping distance and the current target vehicle braking distance.

Abstract: Systems and methods navigate a vehicle on a road at least partially covered with snow. In one implementation, a system may include at least one processor programmed to receive from an image capture device, a plurality of images captured of an environment forward of the vehicle, including an area where snow covers a road on which the vehicle travels, analyze at least one of the plurality of images to identify a first free space boundary on a first side of the vehicle and extending forward of the vehicle, a second free space boundary on a passenger side of the vehicle and extending forward of the vehicle, and a forward free space boundary forward of the vehicle and extending between the first free space boundary and the second free space boundary.

Abstract: Systems and methods use cameras to provide autonomous navigation features. In one implementation, a driver-assist system is provided for a vehicle. The system may include one or more image capture devices configured to acquire images of an area forward of the vehicle. The system may also include at least one processing device configured to receive, via one or more data interfaces, the images. The at least one processing device may be further configured to analyze the images acquired by the one or more image capture devices and cause at least one navigational response in the vehicle based on monocular and/or stereo image analysis of the images.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for host vehicle navigation. In one implementation, a navigation system for a host vehicle may include at least one processing device programmed to receive, from a camera, a plurality of images representative of an environment of the host vehicle; analyze the plurality of images to identify a first flow of traffic and a second flow of traffic; determine a presence of at least one navigational state characteristic indicative of an alternating merging of the first flow of traffic and the second flow of traffic into a merged lane; cause at least a first navigational change to allow one target vehicle from the first flow of traffic to proceed ahead of the host vehicle; and cause at least a second navigational change to cause the host vehicle to follow the target vehicle into the merged lane.

Abstract: A navigational system for a host vehicle may comprise at least one processor. The processor may be programmed to receive an image representative of an environment of the host vehicle; analyze the image to identify a navigational state associated with the host vehicle; and determine, based on the navigational state, a navigational action for the host vehicle based on a policy that maps possible navigational actions to sensed states. The navigational action may be based on a safety constraint applicable to the navigational state, the safety constraint including a safety distance constraint associated with the host vehicle, wherein the safety distance constraint is based on a determined speed of the host vehicle and a determined speed of a detected target object. The processor may cause an adjustment of a navigational actuator of the host vehicle to implement the determined navigational action.

Abstract: A navigational system for a host vehicle may comprise at least one processing device. The processing device may be programmed to receive a first output and a second output associated with a host vehicle, wherein at least one of the outputs is received from a sensor onboard the host vehicle. The processing device may identify a target object in the first output and determine whether a characteristic of the target object triggers a navigational constraint by verifying the identification of the target object based on the first output; and, if the navigational constraint is not verified based on the first output, then verifying the identification of the target object based on a combination of the first output and the second output. In response to the verification, the processing device may cause at least one navigational change to the host vehicle.

Abstract: Various driver assistance systems mountable in a host vehicle and computerized methods for detecting a vertical deviation of a road surface. The driver assistance system includes a camera operatively connectible to a processor. Multiple consecutive image frames are captured from the camera including a first image of the road and a second image of the road. Based on the host vehicle motion, the second image is warped toward the first image to produce thereby a warped second image. Image points of the road in the first image and corresponding image points of the road in the warped second image are tracked. Optical flow is computed between the warped second image to the first image. The optical flow is compared with an optical flow based on a road surface model to produce a residual optical flow. The vertical deviation is computed from the residual optical flow.
