摘要:
The invention provides proteins from group B streptococcus (Streptococcus agalactiae) and group A streptococcus (Streptococcus pyogenes), including amino acid sequences and the corresponding nucleotide sequences. Data are given to show that the proteins are useful antigens for vaccines, immunogenic compositions, and/or diagnostics. The proteins are also targets for antibiotics.

The present invention relates to the use of CD81 protein and polynucleic acid in the therapy and diagnosis of hepatitis C and pharmaceutical compositions, animal models and diagnostic kits for such purposes.

The invention relates to a process for enriching the presence of H. pylori NAP in a mixture of proteins. The process involves salting-out other proteins. NAP has been found to remain soluble at ammonium sulphate concentrations of 80% and above. The process may involve the additional step of metal chelate chromatography. The combination of salting-out and metal chelate chromatography results in very pure NAP. The NAP may have the same sequence as NAP naturally occurring in H. pylori and is free from sequences typically associated with recombinant protein production. The processes and NAP of the invention can be used in diagnostic and therapeutic products and processes.

The invention relates to immunogenic compositions comprising combinations of Chlamydia trachomatis antigens and their use in vaccines. The composition may comprise at least two components, one component of which comprises Chlamydia trachomatis antigens for eliciting a Chlamydia trachomatis specific TH1 immune response and another component of which comprises antigens for eliciting a Chlamydia trachomatis specific TH2 immune response. The invention further relates to an immunogenic composition comprising a Chlamydia trachomatis Type III secretion system (TTSS) regulatory protein and a Chlamydia trachomatis Type III secretion system (TTSS) secreted protein or a fragment thereof. The invention further relates to the use of combinations of adjuvants for use with antigens associated with a sexually transmissible disease, such as Chlamydia trachomatis antigens. Preferred adjuvant combinations include mineral salts, such as aluminium salts and oligonucleotides comprising a CpG motif. The invention further provides a combination of Chlamydia trachomatis antigens comprising a Chlamydia trachomatis antigen that is conserved over at least two serovars.

Cytotoxic T-cell epitopes from C.pneumoniae proteins have been empirically determined. The epitopes from corresponding C.trachomatis proteins have also been identified, and some of these are identical to those from C.pneumoniae. The empirical method showed that algorithmic prediction was inadequate. The epitopes are useful for immunisation and/or diagnosis.

The present invention relates to thermostable mutants of Agrobacterium radiobacter D-N-.alpha.-carbamoylase and means and methods for their preparation. The thermostable mutants have an unaltered or improved activity with respect to the wild-type enzyme and are particularly useful in the preparation of D-.alpha.-amino acids.

The present invention relates to the construction of functional engineered peptide synthetases capable of displaying a correct activity and their use for the non-ribosomal production of modified peptides.

A new plasmid vector operable in Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis, comprising a synthetic promoter capable of directing with great efficiency the expression of the heterologous gene under its control is described. This vector which has a high stability in transformed strains is particularly useful for the production of heterologous proteins in Escherichia coli and/or Bacillus subtilis.

The isolation and characterization of the promoter regions of the genes which code for the pilinic subunits fim2, fim3 and fimx of Bordetella pertussis, are described, as well as the construction of vectors containing the regions, and microorganisms transformed by the vectors. The promoter regions, or nucleotide fragments thereof, are particularly useful for the regulable or non-regulable expression of genes which code for a protein of interest in a strain of Bordetella. The transformed Bordetella strains are particularly suitable for the development of an effective anti-pertussis vaccine.
