Abstract:
A screen intake has a central body with two screens attached on either end. Each of the screens has an interior that communicates with a hollow of the body via flow modifiers. These flow modifiers include one or more pipes disposed in the interior of the screens and through passages in ends of the body. A flow control support device disposed within the body supports the body's sidewall and divides the hollow into at least two portions—each communicating with flow from one of the flow modifiers. The device can include one or more plates disposed adjacent one another within the internal hollow with a peripheral edge attached to an inside of the body's sidewall. At least one of the one or more plates can be solid, or one or more of the plates can define openings therein allowing passage of at least some fluid therethrough.
Abstract:
A flow distributor for a fluid flow entering a deceleration vessel from an inlet conduit comprises a plurality of spaced vanes arranged extending substantially parallel to each other across a width of the distributor and being angled from the upstream to the downstream end so as to form flow channels therebetween to direct flow outwardly away from a central portion of the distributor.
Abstract:
A filter element for use in a filter disc, wherein a plurality of filter elements are arranged on a rotor shaft in a manner allowing liquid communication between the inside of the filter elements and the inside of the rotor shaft. The filter element has at least one passage in an edge structure for liquid communication between the inside of adjacent filter elements when the filter elements are assembled forming a filter disc. The passage has different passage area along the edge structure.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a modular purification system having a disposable sump assembly and an improved flow distribution plate. The system is readily adaptable to a variety of configurations without the need for repiping or replumbing of the installation, and lends itself to the use of multiple purification techniques.
Abstract:
A saturated layer stormwater filtering system with down-flow layered multimedia filters is disclosed. The filtering system may include an upflow pretreatment chamber and a subsequent filtration chamber. It also includes a snorkel pipe as an adjustable head control or internal baffles. The system incorporates gravity powered partially saturated stormwater media filters to harness the potential energy of stormwater from downspouts and pumped flows from stormwater catchments to drive the polluted stormwater in a hydraulically controlled fashion by gravity through a series of filter media layers.
Abstract:
A filter apparatus and method for filtering a liquid. The filter apparatus comprises a housing that has at least one inlet for admission of the liquid to be filtered and at least one outlet for discharge of the filtered liquid. The apparatus further comprises at least two substantially cylindrical filter elements that can be fitted into the housing and which have a plurality of openings through which the liquid can flow to filter particles out of the liquid, and at least one filter cleaning element that can be introduced into a respective filter element in a region of an inner surface of the filter element to increase a flow speed of the liquid to be filtered so that substances in the filter element are flushed away. The filter elements are further connected in a parallel arrangement in the filter apparatus.
Abstract:
A filtration device designed for the purpose of recovering filtrate from wastewaters is characterized by a rotor system (2) that is drivable in rotary manner about a horizontal axis (5) in a liquid bath in a receptacle (1), and which serves as the support for multiple assemblies (17) of filter discs, the interior spaces of which are connected to the suction side of a pump (39) via a collection chamber (29). The liquid to be filtered is transported with the aid of a pump (40) that is connected to a plurality of distributor lances (35) that extend parallel to and close to the hollow shaft (21) that supports the rotor system (2) via a line (31) with the interposition of a prefilter (41) that is intended to separate a coarse fraction. The central introduction of the prefiltered liquid distributed evenly over the length of the rotor system (2) via the distributor lances (35) in conjunction with a network (36) of lines designed to introduce air bubbles into the liquid bath and located in the bottom of the receptacle (1) results in a stable operation that also suppresses the formation of deposits and engenders high and consistent filter efficiency.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for supporting a screen. The apparatus comprising a cylindrical screen for submerging in a fluid, the screen having an inlet pipe for connecting to a piping system, filter members, a first end, a second and a support structure. The support structure is one or more helical members which traverse the screen.
Abstract:
A filter for filtering fluids, in particular gas in petrochemical plants, has: a tubular cartridge which extends along a first axis, is designed to filter a fluid, and has a first and second annular end; a casing, which is connectable to a conduit of a petrochemical plant, houses the tubular cartridge, and has a first and second end support; and an axial compensating ring located between the tubular cartridge and the first or second end support.
Abstract:
The invention is a portable external modular filtering and contamination removal system for a ship. A plurality of non-fixed position modular filter assemblies filter and remove macro-, micro- and nano-particle contaminates ship-side. The filter assemblies may be vessel-based or port based. A floating access and maintenance unit provides easy access to the filter assemblies. The filter assemblies move in cooperation with each other to spread the discharge over multiple units. A flow collecting and diverting apparatus seals against the ship to prevent discharge from running down the side of the ship with a directional discharge to divert discharge to waiting filter assemblies. The filter assemblies may provide their own buoyancy, obtain some buoyancy from vertical support lines from the deck of the ship or shift the buoyancy needs partially or wholly to the floating access and maintenance unit.
