    摘要: A four-stroke piston engine in which air is drawn into a cylinder while rotary motion about the cylinder axis is imparted to the air. Fuel may be blown/injected into the air during its rotation in the cylinder while the fuel supply is located on the axis of the cylinder and supplies at least one jet of fuel directed radially outwardly and which jet of fuel in cooperation with the rotating air forms at least one helical stream of mixture within the cylinder, preferably during the compression stroke, which is transformed into a coherent mixture zone enclosed by a ring of air upon completion of compression. The piston may have a recess in the upper end into which the fuel nozzle is received when the piston approaches top dead center so that an enriched region is formed in the recess which can be ignited by electrodes disposed adjacent the recess.

    摘要: A puffing swirler for use in an internal combustion engine. The puffing swirler causes the air and vaporized fuel mixture to have a controlled high velocity swirling action within the piston cylinder of the engine to provide improved high efficiency combustion of the fuel therein. The puffing swirler includes a flow directing deflector movable with the inlet valve and defining a plurality of swirl-inducing passages. A flow control device is provided for preventing delivery of the fuel fluid to the inlet port until the piston has moved substantially from the top position toward the bottom position thereof, thereby producing a substantial preselected pressure differential between the fluid supply and the cylinder to effect the desired puffing delivery of the fluid to the cylinder. Structure may be provided to releasably retain the flow control device in the full open position as during high speed operation of the engine. The puffing swirler may further include structure to provide delivery selectively through one or more swirl-inducing passages of the flow directing device. The flow control device may be made adjustable for adjusting the pressure differential at which the puff delivery takes place.

    摘要: In order to provide a controlled turbulence or angular momentum of air, air and fuel mixtures or similar fluids to be injected into the cylinder chamber of valve controlled internal combustion engines, control vanes are provided in close proximity to the valve retaining ring. The vanes deflect the flow of the air or air/fuel mixture without restricting the flow thus increasing the fuel flow coefficient. The vanes are curved to accommodate the fluid in-flow while ensuring controlled turbulence or angular momentum of the fluid in the cylinder chamber. The vanes can be arranged on a ring which is fastened in the inlet chamber in close proximity to the valve retaining ring.
