The chambers include a first chamber defined, at least in part, by a first outer housing and a first chamber volume. The first chamber is in fluid communication with the conduit portion. A fluid is permitted to flow between the conduit portion and the first chamber through a first flow area. The chambers also include a second chamber defined, at least in part, by a second outer housing and a second chamber volume. The second chamber is in fluid communication with the conduit portion. A fluid is permitted to flow between the conduit portion and the second chamber through a second flow area. The first chamber volume is generally equal to the second chamber volume and the first flow area is greater than the second flow area. The chambers further include a third chamber defined, at least in part, by a third outer housing and a third chamber volume. The third chamber is in fluid communication with the conduit portion. A fluid is permitted to flow between the conduit portion and the third chamber through a third flow area, wherein the first chamber volume is greater than the third chamber volume.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine includes an intake manifold in a fresh air system. The intake manifold opens into inlet ports of a cylinder head. An exhaust-gas turbocharger has a turbine and a compressor, which is driven by the turbine. The turbine is disposed in the exhaust-gas system. The compressor is disposed in the fresh air system. The turbine has a turbine wheel and a wastegate channel configured to allow a bypassing flow of exhaust-gas past the turbine wheel of the turbine. A wastegate valve is disposed in the wastegate channel for selectively opening and closing the wastegate channel. An electric actuator is provided for operating the wastegate valve. A charge-air cooler is disposed, downstream of the compressor, in the fresh air system. The charge-air cooler is integrated into the intake manifold and is embodied with a water-cooled heat exchanger.

    摘要: The present invention provides a crankcase ventilation system and resonator for a turbocharged internal combustion engine assembly. The resonator, designed for intake noise reduction, is mounted to the engine. An oil separation unit, designed for passage of blowby gases, is mounted to a cam cover, sandwiched between the resonator and cam cover. The resonator has a resonator body defining a resonator volume therein. The resonator fluidly communicates the oil separation unit with the turbocharger air inlet pipe, whereby blowby gases are evacuated from the cam cover and delivered through the resonator volume for reintroduction to the engine's air intake system. Integration of the blowby passages into the resonator reduces the number of potential leak paths in the air induction system, and reduces overall engine mass, cost, and packaging size. The present design also offers improved On-board Diagnostics (OBD) by allowing only large flow areas to be disconnected.

    摘要: A multiple path air mass flow sensor assembly includes an inlet duct which is divided into at least two separate ducts. A first duct has an air mass flow sensor disposed in conventional fashion therein. A second duct includes a damper or valve which may be selectively, partially or fully opened. At low air flow rates, the damper is closed forcing all air through the first duct. As engine speed increases and the air mass flow rate increases, the damper opens, either fully at a predetermined flow rate or proportionally over a predetermined flow rate range, to allow a larger volume of air through the inlet duct. The signal from the air mass flow sensor is adjusted by the engine controller to compensate for the (bypass) air flowing through the second duct.
