Abstract:
An apparatus (10) includes a low-carbon steel tube (24). The low-carbon steel tube (24) yields plastically more than about 5% before fracturing at temperatures down to about null40null C. when stress is applied to the low-carbon steel tube sufficient to cause the low carbon steel tube to so yield.
Abstract:
A method and a device for transporting a container capable of storing a pressurized substance and having a threaded fitting. The method and device enables a person to easily transport the container while being exposed to a minimal risk of injury. The device includes a grasping member with a threaded portion adapted to mate with the threaded fitting of the container and can include a handle that is remote from the threaded portion. The device can also include a roller having a connector for attachment to the container. The method includes steps of mating the threaded portion of the grasping member to the threaded fitting of the container to attach the grasping member to the container, and attaching the roller to the container. A person can apply a force to the grasping member, preferably through the handle, to roll the container on the roller from one location to another location.
Abstract:
A rapid coupling device for a hydrogen storage canister. The rapid coupling device communicates the hydrogen storage canister and a fuel cell. The hydrogen storage canister includes a connecting assembly. The rapid coupling device includes a base and a communicating member. The communicating member communicates with the fuel cell, and is connected to the base. When the hydrogen storage canister is coupled to the fuel cell via the connecting assembly, the communicating member is abutted by the connecting assembly so that hydrogen in the hydrogen storage canister flows to the fuel cell through the connecting assembly and the communicating member.
Abstract:
A highly reliable digital level sensor assembly is provided to replace optical and capacitance type sensors in high purity chemical delivery systems. The digital level sensor assembly is particularly useful in bulk chemical refill delivery systems for high purity chemicals employing a manifold that ensures contamination free operation and canister change outs with a minimum of valves and tubing.
Abstract:
A minimal magnetic-field measurement Dewar vessel includes an inner container which contains a superconducting device and cooling medium, a radiation shield which is composed of an electrical insulation substrate and a first and second plurality of thin line stripes provided on opposite surfaces of the electrical insulation substrate so that the first plurality of thin line stripes is electrically insulated from the second plurality of thin line stripes and provided in a high stripe dense state, an outer container, and a cooling apparatus. A width of one portion of at least one of the first and second plurality of thin line stripes arranged in one area of the radiation shield surrounding the superconducting device is smaller than a width of another portion of the at least one of the first and second plurality of thin line stripes arranged in another area of the radiation shield, respectively.
Abstract:
A cryogenic vessel features an inner tank containing cryogenic liquid with a head space above and a jacket surrounding the inner tank. An internal pressure builder coil is helically disposed about the inner tank, connected to the jacket and in communication with the bottom of the inner tank. An external pressure building heat exchanger is connected to the internal pressure builder coil and the head space of the inner tank. Liquid from the inner tank flows into the internal pressure builder coil and the exiting fluid is driven by a resulting pumping action to the external pressure building heat exchanger where it is vaporized and warmed. The warmed gas is directed to the head space of the inner tank to rapidly build the pressure therein. Gas may be dispensed directly from the head space of the vessel via an economizer valve. Alternatively, liquid may be withdrawn from the inner tank by a dip tube and vaporized in a vaporizer and dispensed.
Abstract:
A needleless drug particle delivery device, of the kind in which firing of the drug particles is caused by a sudden gas flow, characterised in that the device comprises a container (14) of compressed gas and a mechanism for releasing the gas from the container to create the gas flow, the mechanism comprising a rupture (20) element for breaching the container and a manually manipulable actuator (27) for moving the element and the container relatively to one another to provide an initial breach whereby gas is released to act on a piston portion (21) to provide a servo action which causes the rupture element and container to move further suddenly relatively to one another to complete the breaching of the container and establish a maximum gas flow from the container.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a heat transfer changeover switch capable of effecting or cutting off positively heat transfer. The switch requires no contact or separation of a solid contact of a switch piece, is easily incorporated in a fine electronic device and generates no heat or vibration during a switch operation. The switch includes a heat pipe having a pipe for storing a heating medium therein disposed between a hot heat source and a cold heat source. A heating medium supplying/discharging device is provided for supplying/discharging the heating medium to and from the pipe. Heat transfer between the hot heat source and the cold heat source via the heat pipe is effected or cut off by using the heating medium supplying/discharging device that changes over between supply and discharge of the heating medium to and from the pipe.
Abstract:
A weight scale having an operational weighing range, comprising an overall response characteristic having at least first, second and third discrete stages over the operational weighing range. The first, second and third stages are defined by first, second and third predetermined response characteristics, respectively. The weight scale further comprises first, second and third scale arrangements or mechanisms which establish the first, second and third response characteristics, respectively, of the three stages.
Abstract:
A tabletop white smoke generator using dry ice includes a water tank that is formed by a metal into a receptacle with an open upper side, has a vacuum empty portion formed in the inside of a bottom portion and a sidewall so that hot or cold water can be filled into the receptacle; a dry ice accommodating receptacle that is formed into a receptacle with an open upper side, the receptacle being of a size that can be accommodated within the water tank, wherein dry ice can be accommodated in the receptacle; and a holding portion, which holds the dry ice accommodating receptacle above the water tank, and which with a specific operation can submerge the dry ice accommodating receptacle into the warm water that has been filled into the water tank. A tray can be arranged above the water tank, and submerging the dry ice into the warm water generates dry ice white smoke that gushes out from below the tray.
