    摘要: A method of making a gasket assembly of enhanced sealing characteristics comprising the steps of providing a gasket body having an expansive metallic core and at least one compressible fiber-elastomer facing layer and defining at least one clear-through opening, providing a silk screen through which a fluid silicone sealant material is adapted to be squeezed in a desired sealing pattern onto the gasket body, squeezing through the silk screen a fluid, moisture-carbon dioxide curable, silicone sealant material which is curable in the presence of high humidity and carbon dioxide levels into a desired sealing pattern onto the facing layer without intervening barrier coats, preheating the gasket body to a temperature of from about 170.degree. F. to about 185.degree. F. for about 30 to 60 seconds without added moisture, positioning the patterned gasket body in a chamber, and exposing the gasket body in the chamber to a conditioned atmosphere of humidity of at least about 85% relative humidity and of a carbon dioxide volume percent of from about 9 to about 13%, for from about 5 to about 8 minutes, thereby to cure the silicone sealant material to form an elastomeric silicone sealing pattern on the gasket body.

    摘要: An improved abrasion and cut resistant surface is provided for work gloves, work shoes and like wearing apparel. The surface of the invention provides a porous surface particularly useful in work environments where it is necessary for a workman to use gloves, but which gloves are breathable and have moisture absorbing properties. The surface of the invention is a foam surface laminated to a substrate. The foam, prior to lamination, may be foamed with varying amounts of air depending upon the degree of abrasion resistance required. The foaming may be by mechanical or chemical means.

    摘要: A continuous web which is drawn off a roll is perforated on its way toward the wrapping station of a machine for the making of plain or filter tipped smokers' products or filter rod sections. The perforating device is adjustable by a control system which receives signals from a photoelectronic testing unit serving to monitor the permeability of successive increments of the web between the perforating device and the wrapping station. The combined cross-sectional area of holes per unit area of the web is increased or reduced, depending upon whether the monitored permeability is less than or exceeds a preselected optimum permeability.
