摘要: A method and apparatus for processing a metallic workpiece with defined edges (e.g., a gear) comprises media blasting of the workpiece by directing a first media against exposed surfaces on the workpiece to increase the root strength of the gear, the blasting causing the defined edges to be radiused or mushroomed, ceasing the media blasting, loading the workpiece into a finishing apparatus, and subjecting the workpiece to a finishing process with a second media, the exposed surfaces on the workpiece being subjected to the finishing process to reduce the radiused edges on the workpiece created from the media blasting. The process of moving the workpiece to the spindle-finishing apparatus from the media blasting may be performed automatically by a machine. Once the workpiece has been subjected to the finishing process with the second media, it may be removed from the spindle-finishing machine, washed, and rinsed with rust inhibitor whereby wear properties of the workpiece are enhanced.

摘要: A surface of a steel material cut to a desired shape and carbonitrided is heated by excitation and thereafter repeatedly heated/cooled a predetermined number of times, such that an ultrafine crystal layer is formed immediately under the surface of the steel material and at least a predetermined number of cracks are formed under the formed ultrafine crystal layer, thereby enabling to increase toughness of the surface or immediately thereunder and enhance tenacity and inhibiting growth of cracks.

摘要: A manufacturing method of a nitrided steel member and the nitrided steel member include: performing a nitriding treatment on a steel member made of a carbon steel or an alloy steel in an atmosphere of a nitriding treatment gas in which when the total pressure is set to 1, a partial pressure ratio of NH3 gas is set to 0.08 to 0.34, a partial pressure ratio of H2 gas is set to 0.54 to 0.82, and a partial pressure ratio of N2 gas is set to 0.09 to 0.18, at a flow speed of the nitriding treatment gas set to 1 m/s or more, at 500 to 620° C.; and thereby, forming an iron nitride compound layer having a thickness of 2 to 17 μm on a surface of the steel member.

摘要: A flywheel energy storage system incorporates various embodiments in design and processing to achieve a very high ratio of energy stored per unit cost. The system uses a high-strength steel rotor rotating in a vacuum envelope. The rotor has a geometry that ensures high yield strength throughout its cross-section using various low-cost quenched and tempered alloy steels. Low-cost is also achieved by forging the rotor in a single piece with integral shafts. A high energy density is achieved with adequate safety margins through a pre-conditioning treatment. The bearing and suspension system utilizes an electromagnet that off-loads the rotor allowing for the use of low-cost, conventional rolling contact bearings over an operating lifetime of several years.

摘要: A carburized steel composition of the present invention comprises: silicon (Si) in an amount of about 0.7 to 1.3 wt %, nickel (Ni) in an amount of about 0.15 to 0.5 wt %, chromium (Cr) in an amount of about 2.0 to 2.8 wt %, molybdenum (Mo) in an amount of about 0.15 to 0.5 wt %, vanadium (V) in an amount of about 0.02 to 0.1 wt % and nitrogen (N) in an amount of about 0.01 to 0.02 wt %, and iron (Fe) constituting the remaining balance of the carburized steel composition, all the wt % based on the total weight of the carburized steel composition.

摘要: A high frequency heating coil is provided in which a main body part of a workpiece is surrounded by a loop part of the high frequency heating coil and subjected to high frequency heating, and a flange part of the workpiece is sandwiched by first and second lead-out parts of the high frequency heating coil and subjected to high frequency heating. The first and second lead-out parts oppose the flange part and are offset in the axial direction of the workpiece, thereby preventing eddy currents in opposite directions to each other from being generated in the flange part and preventing the flange part from being more difficult to heat than the main body part. The high frequency heating coil can uniformly heat a pipe-shaped workpiece having a flange part projecting radially outward from an outer peripheral face of a main body part.
