Abstract:
Motor control centers have units or buckets with one or more sliding shutters that controllably block access to a stab isolation port based on position of the operator disconnect handle using attached cams that slide the shutter right and left. A front panel of the unit or bucket may also be configured to pivot out about a long axis associated with a bottom long side thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a protective device that includes a cover assembly having a plurality of receptacle openings, a reset button and a test button. The reset button and the test button are disposed along a first diagonal and in opposite corners of a substantially square area defined by the reset button and test button. At least one receptacle contact structure includes a portion extending across the first diagonal and at least one receptacle contact substantially aligned with one of the receptacle openings. An electromechanical apparatus is disposed in the back body within a region substantially aligned with the substantially square area. The electromechanical apparatus includes a toroidal sensor assembly coupled to an actuator coil arranged along a center axis in substantial alignment with the first diagonal, the center axis forming an acute angle relative to a side wall of the back body.
Abstract:
An electromagnetic relay, in particular a motor vehicle relay, contains a magnet yoke, a relay coil, a hinged armature which is pivotable about an axis of rotation and on which a moving contact, as working or switchover contact, is retained relative to at least one fixed contact. A piezo actuator is provided, which keeps the working or switchover contact closed when the relay coil is de-energized as a result of the actuation of the piezo actuator.
Abstract:
A two-pole circuit breaker has an internal rotating trip bar that causes a second pole to trip (i.e., interrupt power) in response to a first pole tripping. A first pole may trip when the two-pole circuit breaker senses an electrical fault in the first pole. The tripping of the second pole in response to the first pole tripping may be referred to as common tripping. The trip bar may be connected to a tripping mechanism in each pole and may have interface features that result in less force required to trip the second pole, greater trip bar design tolerances, and/or ultimately more reliable common tripping. Methods of assembling a two-pole circuit breaker are also provided, as are other aspects.
Abstract:
A circuit for sensing a direct current includes a first resistance and a second resistance. A first portion of the direct current flows through the first resistance and a second portion of the direct current flows through the second resistance. The circuit further includes a current sensor having an opening, first and second conductors inductively coupled with the current sensor, and a switching circuit having a pair of switches structured to alternatingly switch in order that the second portion of the direct current alternatingly flows through the first and second conductors. The second portion of the direct current flowing through the first conductor passes through the opening of the current sensor in a first direction and the second portion of the direct current flowing through the second conductor passes through the opening of the current sensor in a second direction opposite to the first direction.
Abstract:
An object is to provide a gas circuit breaker having improved reliability. To solve the above-described problem, a gas circuit breaker is characterized by having a fixed contact, a movable contact configured to come into contact with or separate from the fixed contact, an insulating enclosure internally having the fixed contact and the movable contact, the inside of the insulating enclosure being filled with an insulating gas, and an operating mechanism configured to allow drive force for movement of the movable contact to be generated, wherein the operating mechanism includes a mover including permanent magnets or magnetic bodies disposed in a direction along which the operating mechanism allows the drive force to be generated, and a magnetic pole disposed to be opposed to the mover, and having a winding.
Abstract:
A method for adjusting a tripping unit for a safety switch, wherein the tripping unit has a first current path as pan of a magnetic tripping device, and wherein the tripping unit has a second current path as part of a bimetallic tripping device. According to the invention, a specifiable test current is applied to the tripping unit, a partial current in one of the two current paths is measured, and a cross-section at one of the two current paths is reduced on the basis of the magnitude of the measured partial current.
Abstract:
A rotating display device displays a value in a variable viewing orientation. The value is received from an electrical apparatus, such as a circuit breaker, having a first port. The rotating display device includes a housing having a first side and a second side, a display disposed on the first side of the housing, a rotating assembly disposed on the second side, and a second port for receiving the value from the first port of the electrical apparatus. The second port communicates with the display and is coupled to the rotating assembly in order to permit the display to rotate. The rotating assembly permits the rotating display device to rotate in the plane of the surface of the circuit breaker on which it is mounted, thereby permitting the display to be quickly and accurately viewed and interpreted regardless of the orientation of the surface to which it is coupled.
