    摘要: An aircraft control structure for drag management includes a nozzle structure configured to exhaust a swirling fluid stream. A plurality of swirl vanes are positioned within the nozzle structure, and an actuation subsystem is configured to cause the plurality of swirl vanes to move from a deployed state to a non-deployed state. In the non-deployed state, the plurality of swirl vanes are substantially flush with the inner surface of the nozzle structure. In the deployed state, the plurality of swirl vanes produce the swirling fluid stream.

    摘要: A system for controlling a magnitude of a sonic boom includes a first sensor configured to detect a first condition of the supersonic aircraft. The system further includes a pair of wings configured to move fore and aft. The system further includes a processor communicatively coupled with the sensor and operatively coupled with the pair of wings. The processor is configured to (1) receive a first information from the first sensor indicative of the first condition, (2) calculate a lift distribution of the supersonic aircraft based on the first information, (3) determine an existence of a deviation of the lift distribution from a desired lift distribution based on the flight condition, and (4) control the pair of wings to move to redistribute the lift in a manner that more closely conforms to the desired lift distribution. The magnitude of the sonic boom is reduced when the deviation is reduced.

    摘要: A pumping apparatus includes a gear pump in fluid communication with a boost pump. The gear pump includes a pump housing, a first gear, and a second gear. The first and second gear have gear teeth and trunnions on opposite sides thereof, and are disposed in the pump housing. The gear teeth of the first and second gear are meshed in a mesh region. An inlet cavity is defined adjacent to the first and second gear, on one side of the mesh region. A pump outlet is defined on an opposite side of the mesh region from the inlet cavity. A bearing is configured to support at least one trunnion of the first gear and/or the second gear. A bearing interface is defined between the bearing and the at least one trunnion. A flow path is defined between the bearing interface and the inlet cavity.

    摘要: Launch lock assemblies with reduced preload are provided. The launch lock assembly comprises first and second mount pieces, a releasable clamp device, and a pair of retracting assemblies. Each retracting assembly comprises a pair of toothed members having interacting toothed surfaces. The releasable clamp device normally maintains the first and second mount pieces in clamped engagement. When the releasable clamp device is actuated, the first and second mount pieces are released from clamped engagement and one toothed member of each retracting assembly moves in an opposite direction relative to the other one toothed member of the other retracting assembly to define an axial gap on each side of the first mount piece.

    摘要: A method for determining a fluid level value in a fluid tank of an internal combustion engine equipped with a discrete level sensor is provided. The discrete level sensor is configured for generating a first electrical signal when a fluid level is above or equal to a first predetermined fluid level threshold value and generating a second electrical signal when the fluid level is above or equal to a second predetermined fluid level threshold value. The second predetermined fluid level threshold value is greater than the first predetermined fluid level threshold value. The method includes monitoring a number of occurrences of the first electrical signal and of the second electrical signal over a time interval. The fluid level in the fluid tank is calculated as a function of the number of occurrences of the first and of the second electrical signals over the time interval.
