    摘要: A road marker placement system has a frame, a holder mechanically coupled to the frame, a drive system mechanically coupled to the frame, and a rotatable carrier mechanically coupled to the drive system to allow the rotatable carrier to be rotationally driven by the drive system. The rotatable carrier has at least a first pocket formed therein that receives one of the road markers dispensed from an opening of the holder when the rotatable carrier is in a first position. The rotatable carrier is rotated by the drive system from the first position to a second position that is facing the road surface such that the road marker held in the first pocket is forced at least by gravity and by centrifugal force of the rotating rotatable carrier to be ejected from the first pocket onto an adhesive material located on the road surface.

    摘要: Protein ubiquitylation, an essential post-translational modification, regulates almost every cellular process including protein degradation, protein trafficking, signal transduction, and DNA damage response in eukaryotic cells. The diverse functions of ubiquitylation are thought to be mediated by distinct chain topologies resulting from eight different ubiquitin linkages, chain lengths, and complexities. Currently, ubiquitin linkages are generally thought to be a critical determinant of ubiquitin signaling. However, ubiquitin chain lengths, another key element of ubiquitin signaling, have not been well documented especially in vivo situation during past three decades from the discovery of ubiquitin. The reason of this was simply because no method has been available for determination of ubiquitin chain length in endogenous ubiquitylated substrates. In the present invention, a practical technique for determining the actual length of substrate-attached polyubiquitin chains from biological samples is established. Using the method, the mean length of substrate-attached polyubiquitin chains was determined and the robustness of ubiquitin chain length regulation in cells is investigated. The following is a summary of findings in this invention: 1. A method for determining ubiquitin chain length was developed and this method was named ‘ubiquitin protection from trypsinization’ (Ub-ProT). 2. Using Ub-ProT, it was determined that the mean length of substrate-attached ubiquitin chains is in the dimer to decamer range. 3. By quantitative proteomics, it was found that the mean lengths of five major types of ubiquitin chains can be divided into two groups. 4. Proteasome-inhibition did not alter the mean length of substrate-attached polyubiquitin chains, indicating that cells have a robust system for regulating ubiquitin chain length.

    摘要: A miniaturized ultra-wideband multifunction antenna comprising a conducting ground plane at the base, a plurality of concentric feed cables, one or more omnidirectional one-dimensional (1-D) normal-mode and two-dimensional (2-D) surface-mode traveling-wave (TW) radiators, frequency-selective internal and external couplers, and a unidirectional radiator on top, stacked and cascaded one on top of the other. Configured as a single structure, its unidirectional radiator and plurality of omnidirectional TW radiators can cover, respectively, most satellite and terrestrial communications, with unidirectional and omnidirectional radiation patterns, respectively, needed on various platforms. This new class of multifunction antenna is ultra-wideband, miniaturized and low-cost, thus attractive for applications on automobiles and other small platforms. As a multifunction antenna, a continuous bandwidth up to 1000:1 or more is reachable for terrestrial communications and a continuous bandwidth of 10:1 or more is feasible for satellite communications.

A representative method, among others that are disclosed herein, can be broadly summarized by the following steps: permitting a first one or more data transfers with a first personal communications device (PCD) for scheduling an order relating to arrival or departure of a mobile thing (MT) at a stop location and to pickup or delivery of a good or service at the stop location; during the first one or more data transfers, requesting and permitting input or selection of quantity information relating to the good and/or service; causing initiation of a second one or more data transfers with the first PCD or a second PCD designated during the first one or more data transfers, prior to completion of the pickup or delivery of the good or service at the stop location; during the second one or more data transfers, permitting a change to the quantity information of the good or service associated with the order that was established during the first one or more data transfers; and permitting the MT to arrive at or depart from the stop location to permit pickup or delivery of the good or service in accordance with the changed quantity information established during the second one or more data transfers. A representative system, among others, can be a computer system that has been programmed to perform the foregoing steps.
