摘要： A single piece device enables medical clinicians to clean and disinfect both an injection port (needleless I.V. connector) and a vascular access catheter hub. The device has a body with a first end having a blind hole with a wall adapted to be engageable with the threads on the housing of an IV connector and a bottom surface adapted to engage the top surface of the IV connector. The device body has a second end defining a male-luer slip extending out of a recess. The male-luer slip is adapted to extend into a standard vascular access catheter hub such that it engages the inner walls of the catheter hub, and the recess is adapted to receive and be engageable with the outside thread element of the catheter hub.

摘要： Medical intravenous administration connectors according to a first embodiment include a first coupling member having a female luer, a valve member having a substantially rigid stem and a substantially resilient body with a sealing surface, and a second coupling member having a fluid coupling extending from one end and an internal valve member support. The coupling members are structured to couple to each other with the valve member being biased to a closed position. When assembled, the valve stem extends into the female luer, and the valve body biases the sealing surface against an annular ring in the first coupling member thereby blocking fluid communication. Vanes are provided in the second coupling member on which the resilient body of the valve sits, with the vanes acting as a centering mechanism for the valve. The valve is opened for fluid flow through the assembly by coupling a male luer to the female luer of the assembly. According to a second embodiment, the valve stem is replaced by a dome-like protrusion on the resilient valve body. The valve of the second embodiment is opened by applying fluid under pressure through the female luer. According to a third embodiment, the valve is partially rigid and partially resilient. All embodiments are easy to prime, limit priming volume, and are arranged without dead-spaces in which blood can be trapped.

摘要： A surgical trocar assembly includes a disposable valve assembly, a cannula assembly, and a trocar with a handle. The cannula assembly includes a cannula base having a valve assembly coupling device at its proximal end, and a cannula extending from its distal end. The disposable valve assembly has a coupling device for removably coupling it with the cannula base. The valve assembly also includes a valve body with a fluid passage communicating with the hollow cannula when it is coupled to the cannula base. A slit or flapper valve and a universal washer are mounted within the valve body and allow the insertion of the trocar or other endoscopic instruments therethrough while providing a fluid sealing of the fluid passage. The valve assembly may be provided with a side port which optionally contains an automatic valve actuated by a luer coupling. Several different valve assembly-cannula base couplings are disclosed as well as several different types of trocars.

摘要： A needleless IV injection port assembly includes a spiked body provided with a hollow spike, a female luer component, a flexible and resilient spike boot having a tip and spring portion, a centering member, and a resilient swabbable septum. The spike boot extends over the spike, the centering member is provided over a portion of the spike and spike boot, and the septum is provided between the centering member and an end of the female luer component. The spiked body and the female luer component are secured together to complete the assembly. The length of the female luer component and/or the length of the spike is chosen so that when a separate male luer is positioned over a protuberance on the septum and pushed into the female luer component, the male luer places pressure upon the septum which thereby urges the septum toward the spike. The pressure on the septum causes the spring portion of the boot to be compressed and the tip portion of the boot to be pierced by the tip of the spike. As the septum is further compressed, the septum extends over the spike, with a pre-slit hole in the septum facilitating the extension thereover, such that a hollow of the spike is in fluid communication with the male luer connector. The injection port causes minimal reflux, and the spike boot and septum provide a swabbable antibacterial double barrier over the spike.

摘要： A needleless IV injection port assembly includes a spiked body provided with a hollow spike, a female luer component, a flexible and resilient spike boot having a tip and spring portion, a centering member, and a-resilient swabbable septum.
