摘要: The present invention is directed to methods for identifying agents which affect cell state. The instant invention provides rapid and efficient methods for identifying agents which affect cell state. Methods are directed toward the screening of complex combinations of agents for their ability to affect cell state. In one embodiment, cells are incubated under suitable conditions and subjected to different agents. After an appropriate amount of time, the cells are assayed to determine what, if any, characteristics they possess. Cell characteristics can be organized in a manner such that different and novel cell states can be identified.

摘要: Computer-controlled automated high-throughput systems can be used to design, prepare, process, screen, and analyze a large number of samples in removable sample vials each containing a compound of interest formulated with differing component combinations and varying concentrations. The computer-controlled methods of the present invention allow for a determination of the effects of additional or inactive components, such as excipients, carriers, enhancers, adhesives, additives, and the like, on the compound of interest, such as a pharmaceutical. The invention thus encompasses the computer systems, computer methods, and computer-program products for computer-controlled automated high-throughput testing of experimental formulations in order to identify experimental formulations that can be further processed. Identified experimental formulations from multiple arrays can be removed and re-arrayed together to form a new array for further processing.

摘要: The present invention relates to methods and compositions for the treatment and diagnosis of immune disorders, especially T helper lymphocyte-related disorders, and also for the treatment of mast cell-related processes and disorders, ischemic disorders and injuries, including ischemic renal disorders and injuries. For example, genes which are differentially expressed within and among T helper (TH) cells and TH cell subpopulations, which include, but are not limited to TH0, TH1 and TH2 cell subpopulations are identified. Genes are also identified via the ability of their gene products to interact with gene products involved in the differentiation, maintenance and effector function of such TH cells and TH cell subpopulations. The genes identified can be used diagnostically or as targets for therapeutic intervention. In this regard, the present invention provides methods for the identification and therapeutic use of compounds as treatments of immune disorders, especially TH cell subpopulation-related disorders. Additionally, methods are provided for the diagnostic evaluation and prognosis of TH cell subpopulation-related disorders, for the identification of subjects exhibiting a predisposition to such conditions, for monitoring patients undergoing clinical evaluation for the treatment of such disorders, and for monitoring the efficacy of compounds used in clinical trials. Methods are also provided for the treatment of symptoms associated with mast cell-related processes or disorders and ischemic disorders and injuries using the genes, gene products and antibodies of the invention.

摘要: The invention concerns arrays, systems and methods for screening compounds, compositions or conditions useful to treat or prevent kidney diseases. These methods are useful to discover, optimize and select compounds, compositions, or conditions that prevent, inhibit, induce, modify, or reverse physical-state transitions, particularly in-vivo physical-state transitions relating to disease causing processes such as development and growth of renal calculi. Such compounds, compositions, or conditions can be exploited to treat, prevent or manage the disease itself, the cause of the disease, or the symptoms of the disease.
