摘要: Disclosed are polymer blends prepared by melt blending a fluorinated block copolyester with a non-fluorinated polyester wherein the fluorinated block copolyester comprises blocks of fluoroether modified aromatic polyester and blocks of unmodified polyester. Suitable block copolyesters have a blockiness index, B, in the range of 0.25 to 1.0. Shaped articles prepared from the blends exhibit oil and soil resistance with high fluorine efficiency.

摘要: Disclosed is a polycondensation process for preparing block copolyesters comprising blocks of fluoroether functionalized aromatic polyester and blocks of unmodified polyester. According to the process, a non-fluorinated poly(alkylene arylate) first homopolymer and a fluoroether functionalized poly(alkylene arylate) second homopolymer are combined to form a reaction mixture; the reaction mixture is heated to a temperature above the melting temperatures of each said homopolymer to prepare a molten reaction mixture; and the reaction is continued until the desired molecular weight is achieved. The block copolymers incorporated into blends with unmodified aromatic polyester impart oil and soil resistance to shaped articles prepared from the blends.

摘要: Transition metal complexes of selected monoanionic phosphine ligands, which also contain a selected Group 15 or 16 (IUPAC) element and which are coordinated to a Group 3 to 11 (IUPAC) transition metal or a lanthanide metal, are polymerization catalysts for the (co)polymerization of olefins such as ethylene and α-olefins, and the copolymerization of such olefins with polar group-containing olefins. These and other nickel complexes of neutral and monoanionic bidentate ligands copolymerize ethylene and polar comonomers, especially acrylates, at relatively high ethylene pressures and surprisingly high temperatures, and give good incorporation of the polar comonomers and good polymer productivity. These copolymers are often unique structures, which are described.

摘要: Ethylene and allyl- or vinylsilanes are efficiently copolymerized by certain late transition metal complexes containing selected bidentate or tridentate ligands. The resulting novel polymers may be crosslinked by moisture when vinylsilane contains groups bound to silicon which are hydrolyzable. The polymers are useful for wire coating, crosslinked foams, pipes, and other uses.

摘要: Disclosed herein are processes for polymerizing ethylene, acyclic olefins, and/or selected cyclic olefins, and optionally selected olefinic esters or carboxylic acids, and other monomers. The polymerizations are catalyzed by selected transition metal compounds, and sometimes other co-catalysts. Since some of the polymerizations exhibit some characteristics of living polymerizations, block copolymers can be readily made. Many of the polymers produced are often novel, particularly in regard to their microstructure which gives some of them unusual properties. Numerous novel catalysts are disclosed, as well as some novel processes for making them. The polymers made are useful as elastomers, molding resins, in adhesives, etc. Also described herein is the synthesis of linear &agr;-olefins by the oligomerization of ethylene using as a catalyst system a combination a nickel compound having a selected &agr;-diimine ligand and a selected Lewis or Bronsted acid, or by contacting selected &agr;-diimine nickel complexes with ethylene.
