A deposition mask with which position precision of a passage hole is improved and deposition can be conducted precisely and a manufacturing method thereof are provided. A mask body made of a metal thin film is fixed and tightly mounted on a frame body having an opening. The mask body has at least one pattern region including a plurality of passage holes for letting through a deposition material, a stress relaxation region including a plurality of fine holes provided at the periphery of the pattern region, and a holding region provided at the periphery of the stress relaxation region. The mask body is tightly mounted on the frame body at a holding region.

A process for producing a metal film-coated material, the process including: (a1) forming, on a substrate, a polymer layer formed from a polymer which has a functional group capable of interacting with a plating catalyst or a precursor thereof, and is directly chemically bonded to the substrate; (a2) providing a plating catalyst or a precursor thereof to the polymer layer; and (a3) performing plating with respect to the plating catalyst or a precursor thereof. The polymer layer satisfies all of specific requirements regarding the saturated water absorption coefficient, the saturated water absorption coefficient, the water absorption coefficient, and the surface contact angle of the polymer layer.

A styrene/butadiene copolymer rubber to be used for automobile tires is lowered in its rolling resistance by blending it with carbon black and the following components (A) and (B):(A) a dinitrodiamine compound represented by the following formula (I): ##STR1## wherein X is a divalent organic group such as an alkylene, R.sup.1 is hydrogen or an organic group such as an alkyl, provided that two nitrogen atoms linking through X may further link through R.sup.1, and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are each hydrogen or an alkyl, provided that R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 may conjointly form a ring; and(B) a sulfide compound selected from dibenzothiazyl disulfide, tetralkylthiuram disulfide, and alkyl- or hydroxy-substituted phenol sulfide resin. The dinitrodiamine compound (A) and the sulfide compound (B) are added simultaneously to the rubber together with the carbon black in a first kneading step of a high temperature.

A work holding device is intended for use in combination with a processing machine, such as an assembling apparatus, an industrial robot or a machine tool. The work holding device comprises a base plate (8), a slide base (9) supported for vertical movement on the base plate (8), a swivel head (10) supported for turning on the slide base (9), and a rotary table (11) supported on the swivel head for rotation about an axis perpendicular to the axis of turning of the swivel head. The slide base (9), the swivel head (10) and the rotary table (11) are controlled properly to set a work (12) held on the rotary table (11) in an optional position relative to the associated processing machine. The work holding device and the processing machine are controlled for synchronous operation by a single controller according to a control program.

A styrene polymer is stabilized by incorporating into said styrene polymer(A) a hindered piperidine compound represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms,R.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, andR.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each independently an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; and(B) a benzotriazole compound selected from the group consisting of 2-(2-hydroxy-5-methylphenyl)benzotriazole and 2-(2-hydroxy-3-tert-butyl-5-methylphenyl)-5-chlorobenzotriazole.

There are provided a metal film-carrying substrate including a substrate and a metal film with good adhesion to the substrate and being less dependent on temperature or humidity, and a method for preparation thereof. There are also provided a metal pattern material having a patterned metal portion with good adhesion to a substrate, being less dependent on temperature or humidity, and providing highly reliable insulation for a region where the patterned metal portion is not formed, and a method for preparation thereof. The method for preparing the metal film-carrying substrate includes: (a1) forming a polymer layer on a substrate, the polymer layer including a polymer that has a non-dissociating multidentate functional group capable of interacting with a plating catalyst or a precursor thereof and is directly and chemically bonded to the substrate; (a2) applying a multidentate plating catalyst or a precursor thereof to the polymer layer; and (a4) performing plating on the multidentate plating catalyst or precursor thereof; and (a3) optionally adding a metal to the polymer layer after the step (a2), the metal being different from the multidentate plating catalyst or precursor thereof.
