Abstract:
A marine catamaran craft, comprising at least one forward hydrofoil fixed to each of the catamaran hulls and at least one rear hydrofoil in which: At least one forward hydrofoil is arranged for shallowly submerged operation At least one rear hydrofoil is arranged for shallowly submerged operation at low speeds and for planing operation at higher speeds A rear part of each of the catamaran hulls remains wetted at all speeds.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a prescription eyeglass mounted sound reflective hearing aid device with sound reflectors that remove surrounding noise. The hearing aid device is comprised of a pair of eyeglasses with two molded half cone shaped directional sound reflectors. Both of the reflectors have an interior surface and an exterior surface. The reflectors take surrounding noise out of the wearer's perception, making it easier to listen to people.
Abstract:
Apparatuses and methods for attaching a minimal access tool to a user's boy (e.g., wrist or forearm) so that movements of the user's forearm, wrist, hand and fingers can control movements at a distal end of the minimal access tool. In particular, described herein are forearm attachment devices (which may be used with or integrated into) a minimal access tool including a cuff configured to secure to the user's forearm and a coupling joint configured to connect the cuff to the frame so that the cuff may move relative to the frame with between 1 and 4 degrees of freedom.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for identifying a potential reference is disclosed. In one embodiment, a user interface (UI) object (e.g., a one-click reference search button) is provided, for example, on a web page displayed at a user's client device. When selected, the UI object causes a reference search query to be generated. The search query identifies the user performing the search, and a target person for whom the user would like a reference. The search query is communicated to, and processed by, a social networking system (e.g., through an API function call). In turn, the social networking system returns information about potential references to the client.
Abstract:
A hydrofoil section comprising upper and lower cambered profiles and a reference line in which: the reference line is drawn between the trailing edge of the section and the leading edge or a point close to and below such leading edge, and both profiles have a positive camber, and a substantial part of the lower profile lies above such reference line, and the area bounded by such reference line and by such lower profile lying above such reference line is greater than any area lying below such reference line.
Abstract:
A rifle receiver including a housing for operating parts of the rifle and an integral scope mount. The scope mount may be a picatinny rail, a weaver rail, or some other form of mount or rail. Iron sights may be included or omitted. The scope mount may be integral by virtue of having been cast as part of the receiver, machined as part of the receiver, welded to the receiver, or otherwise affixed as an integral part of the receiver.
Abstract:
Systems and methods to manage workloads and hardware resources in a data center or cloud. In one embodiment, a method includes a data center having a plurality of servers in a network. The data center provides a virtual machine for each of a plurality of users, each virtual machine to use a portion of hardware resources of the data center. The hardware resources include storage and processing resources distributed onto each of the plurality of servers. The method further includes sending messages amongst the servers, some of the messages being sent from a server including status information regarding a hardware resource utilization status of that server. The method further includes detecting a request from the virtual machine to handle a workload requiring increased use of the hardware resources, and provisioning the servers to temporarily allocate additional resources to the virtual machine, wherein the provisioning is based on status information provided by one or more of the messages.
Abstract:
Matches between search queries and potential targets of such search queries are automatically brokered by (i) comparing search criteria specified in the search queries with profile criteria describing the potential targets, and (ii) reporting instances of acceptable correspondence between the search criteria and the profile criteria, provided that access controls associated with the profile criteria of the targets permit such reporting in light of access levels assigned to the search inquiries. Initiators, using client applications at various remote locations, may formulate the search queries and the brokering may be performed at one or more server locations communicatively coupled (e.g., via the Internet) thereto. The profile criteria may include portions of rich descriptive profiles of the potential targets.
Abstract:
A method and system for evaluating the reputation of a member of a social networking system is disclosed. Consistent with an embodiment of the invention, one or more attributes associated with a social networking profile of a member of a social network are analyzed. Based on the analysis, a ranking, rating or score is assigned to a particular category of reputation. When requested, the ranking, rating or score is displayed to a user of the social network.
